I had to do two recording of my performances however i believed both performances were as good as eachother however in my first perfotmance i had lyrics for cues incase i got lost in the songs for the structure. Through the performance i only really used it for my second song rain by the teskey brothers as i had the least amount of practice doing that song not only on my own but wuth my colabiration tom we had played the song twice together, for future referance i would had spaced out my time i had on each song equally however problems lead to this happening but it worked in the end. My tutor then informed me that looking at any for of writing like sheet music is a fail whic i found anoying as i know i can do my set without any lyrical help so i requested to do it again and thats when i recorded the second performance. There were less mistakes in the first recording than the second, i believe it was souly down to nerves from the first time and following it up however it was a good performance both of my colabirations were amazing. A huge problem i had was i originally was going to try and play a instrument along side singing for each song explaining why i played piano in the first piece of my set but the rest had colabirations. My problem was i didnt have good enough skills in any instruments mainly trying to focus on guitar and piano and because of this i wasnt able to portray my imagination into the music as i would struggle to play the original. I was then able to get both tom and kyran to help me and they were amazing at listening to my comands and portraying it through the music.
A amazing thing that went well with my colabirations was comunication especially with structure for example when i would practise with them weeks before the performance they would come in early due to miss comunication and lack of understanding were as after practising in the performance as a whole we made one mistake with time but we quickly got back to speed and was perfectly fine. Due to the fact my song choices werent mostly upbeat and they were soft and quite soulfull it meant my stage presence wasnt able to be as good as i wanted. I did still try to move round the stage and interact with the audiance but went really well. All of the techniques after talking to audiance members were portrayed in the music and alot people even were able to tell me when in the song i used it which made me very proud as that went above and beyond my expectations. I was able to explain my changes before each song quite well and from what i heard that helped the audiance to listen out for it overwise they might have struggled especially changes i had done to the instrumental aspects if people dont know the song im playing, due to the fact most were much older songs being played to a younger audiance.
I could have taken more risks with songs like Rain as i didnt do alot of major changes so some people might have struggled to see the work i had put in were as if i had drastic changes it would be obvious but now i know in future i will be more bold and go for it and i wanted to show of my techniques but wanted to learn some new techiques and use them however didnt do this as often as i would have liked.
I have learnt that using your imagination can change alot about the music your playing and that if you make it your own you enjoy playing it more which i know as my version of Mr pitiful we now do in my band instead of the original and people really enjoy it as its your own sound and slightly different. I also have learnt how to make a peice your own and i have learnt alot about changing chords for songs but singing the same way can change emotions and the vibe of the song so i havent just learnt alot about vocals for this technique but also for guitar and piano which will help me in the future if i want to make my own style of music which is what i plan to do.
