Planning: my plan in this week was good and bad as even though somethings went wrong I was still able to achieve what I wanted to do the basic level. I was able to get studio time books for this week in advance, thanks to my teacher, pulling some strains as he realised I was struggling and I came to help. Were able to get a full day nearly in the studios spread out which means we could have breaks in between. I learn how to make an executive decision on how old is going to record my last song. As in truth, I spoke to Harry my producer, and he believed that if we tried to record it normally in sections we wouldn't finish it due to the fact we still had other parts of my songs to finish like bass guitar for my first one. I then spoke to my teacher and also Harry and other musicians of the building of what I should do with the situation, and all of them nearly came back with the same answer which was do a live studio recording, so we decided to go for this approach, and after a long day in the studio, we finish my recordings so Harry could start mixing them which was amazing. However, we did come across a few problems while recording, but overall we finish the songs which is the main situation and they turned out exactly how I wanted them.
Research: This week I didnt conduct much research as a large amount of it is finished as everything i needed was iver for my recordings or performance and I have now finished both however I am going to do some research into Distro kid the platform I am releasing my music on as it's good to know how the app works as its my first time releasing music on my own using distro kid which will be good for the future.
Work Conducted: I conducted a large amount of work today regarding my recordings for my songs, and after today we have finished all recording for my project. Even though one of the songs had to be a live recording it's still sound to really good quality and a very happy there after Harry's mixed it I believe it will be as good as the other two recordings. Another thing that we did, was record guitar and bass from my first song as Billy we found out messed up the times when we were recording drums last week we found out. After recording guitar bass for the first song, it sounded exactly what I wanted from that song, as it is one of my favourites of ever written, and I was very happy with the end result only took us an hour session to record both of those achievements, which was very proactive I did also did a large amount of work with Izzy Gale another student as I'm featuring on one of her singles for FMP as this is another way to get my name out there as more things I collaborate on then the more chance people see my name and want to see what music I create.
How to improve: A few ways that I could've improved from this week is try to record in the studio earlier and maybe tried to get multiple days as what I noticed was by the end of the day everyone was tired of recording and being in the studio and if I had done this then I wouldn't have had to make my third song a live recording and it could have been normal recording which would have meant certain aspects would have been better like the mic quality and other aspects. Another way would have been better communication as a lot of the people I was working with didn't explain to me they weren't free and it caused loads of problems this week.
Professional development: This week has been amazing for my personal development on both recording and also problem-solving with my final major project. I've been able to show that even though I was pressed for time, I was still able to record 1 1/2 songs In a single day shows that I am developing as a musician, even though I'm using session musicians. I am in fact conducting the majority of the work and then telling them what to do. I learn a large amount of skills regarding recording with different ways you can do about it for example, live recordings and separate recordings on how they create different vibes for Music. However, even though I didn't want to do a live recording a lot of country music does take this aspect which I know from my research and I believe this is very successful.
Future goals: This helps my future goals as when I go to uni I will have to create songs in a short amount of time in the studios and out and this will mean that I have to work at this pace on a regular bases so this is teaching me how to do it while I make my music at the same time which is a win win situation. Another way this week is getting me ready to achieve my goals as I'm learning concert new skills while recording and using social media and during the performance I did last week. Do you love me my Music before in groups with other people I've never done a solo and I've never actually performed my own music that I created to an audience so everything I'm doing over the past few weeks it's constantly fulfilling new goals I made for myself at the start of my FMP project and before I joined college.
Planning: One aspect of planning that didnt go well this week was dealing with my collaborations plans and factoring that in to my own plans. For example i really struggled with getting everyone in the studio at the same time as I didnt take into consideration that people were going to be busy doing whatever they were themselves as they had already made plans and I had not communicated with them timing all I said was about having studio access on the wednesday and they obviously didn't assume it would be for as long as it was which is understandable. It also meant that when we wanted to do the loive recording we were delayed as it was extremely hard to get everyone in the studio at the same time for around a hour as it takes a while to get the perfect take.
Work conducted: Something that went wrong with the work we conduct was due to the fact we did a live recording it meant that the microphone quality on especially the guitar and vocals aren't as high as I would have wanted how ever it does make the track seem more original and authentic. However the guitar was the biggest problem as After recording we realised that the mic was set up wrong which means harry will have to work extra hard to make it sound cleaner and nicer for the final product which was slightly frustrating for both harry and me as we didn't have time to record anything else. However we were able to record everything however we didn't use one of the recording sessions as everyone was busy which wasn't good as someone might have needed that time so we informed are treacher and as it was live lunch I made a announcement to everyone that if they want to they can use it.
Problem solving: This week regarding recording i've had to deal with a large amount of problems all my collaborations being one of them, and also just trying to find time in the studios, was a really large struggle this week as it's becoming the end of college on the FMP period and everyone just wants to finish off all their work. Luckily I was able to get some time and deal with every single problem I was faced with and I've also learn a lot from these problems to make sure they don't have it again.
How this has effected my personal development and my future goals: These problems that I've come across, has caused a lot of not needed attention, which has caused me to be focused on that more than my product and is one of the reasons ive had to rush the recording process as I wanted harry to have a less rushed time frame to make the songs as good as he could and then if I wanted anything to change he had the time to do so and it not cause any problems.
