Planning: This break I really focused on my planning as Last week It was a large problem so I wanted to make sure it was ok. I had planned to have a stiff crowd session with my other collaborations to get some more ideas for my EP songs. The goal is to get a close to finished product as when we go to record after this break we don't have to do too much rehearsals before recording. Thanks to me planning it in advance and booking the room I was able to get everyone there and it was extremely successful. I also explained to them what I wanted the songs so they went away came up with some ideas and then did the rehearsal which lead to me getting loads doe with them as they had ideas in there head before hand so we didn't sit around at all throughout the rehearsal and kept coming up with new ideas.
Work conducted: The work that I conducted over the easter brake was extremely helpful with my coursework and its caused me to stay a head massively. What I did was get together with my session musicians and finished two songsz for my EP and got a halfway finished version on my third song. We also were able to discuss more stuff connected to my EP and gave me access to more opportunities. We were able to make the drums guitar and vocals for the first two tracks and finish there sections however i do want to add bass. We were then able to send all the videos we got together so when we do we can go of and practice and we were now able to start recording which wass are goal.
How to improve: One thing I could have done that would have helped me improve is got more rehearsal sessions, the reason being is I can then take all of the work that I conducted but also finish the songs instead of not finishing song 3. That way we wouldn't need to practice before studios and I wouldn't have to stress about studio time. Also contacting people as I forgot to invite lucy which means the next few weeks we will have to teach her the bass for the songs which puts pressure on everyone which I could have solved easily. Also a way to improve would be more research into genres more before the rehearsal so I could have a greater understanding of the sound im looking for.
How does this help me get my goals: It shows Im able to use my creativity to create good songs in a extremely short amount of time with talented musicians. I also was able to learn more about the other instruments being used in the songs and try to learn how I could explain that to someone. The reason this will help me when I go to uni there will be a instrument I will want to use in a song and I need to know the technical way to explain it to them as its more professional and theres a likely chance it will be closer to what i want than if I don't. Its also teaching me to take multiple ideas and find which one is right for me and the song so decision making is something that will help me achieve my goals.
Planning: One problem I didn't plan was my transport for the day and actually getting to the rehearsal space. This then lead to me missing my train and actually being late to my rehearsal session. This also lead to me being 15 minutes late which didn't look professional for me to my collaborators but I also have to pay for that time so I wasted it in a way however the boys did get all of their equipment set up in that time so it wasn't completely wasted. I also didn't plan bringing the possible basses helping me out, this has now led to me going to have to teach her all the songs and the point of the rehearsal was to have a good understanding of the songs so we don't have to rehearse to much. This also is going to cause problems with recording as we will have to record bass possibly last so we have time to teach lucie the songs.
Work conducted: Some work I should have conducted that i didn't was research into different genres mixing with country music. I have towards the end of this week however it would have been much more helpful before are rehearsal session. Another one would be promotion as I have not promoted my EP at all which means the only people that know about it are close friends of mine which isn't helpful as for my FMP to be successful I need it to get out to a large audience of people I dont know and then find out which song they prefer and I can't do that without promoting my music especially on social media like Instagram and Tik Tok.
How I can improve my problems: A main thing is research and then implementing that research into my work for example researching promotion both primary and secondary research and then using that information I have found to create a post and then measure how well it does. Another thing would be asking for some advice on ideas you have for example the rehearsal talking to my teacher asking him what their thoughts are and take that information into account when doing something, a large amount of it relies on finding information out before doing something so I don't run into any problems.
How these problems affect my professional development: Due to the fact that we didn't finish the songs it means im not able to exceed in my work as I can record a song unless it is finished and well rehearsed as I need everyone recording for me extremely confident.Otherwise they not play to their best ability which will affect the sound of your track. Another thing is because i haven't posted on social media it means that I am instantly behind other artists who are and the people who post the most about their music for the longer amount of time get more attraction as it gives the algorithm more time to send it to even more people.
How does this affect me achieving my goals: Me being late to the rehearsal could make people create a view of me being flake and not very reliable, this is the opposite of what I need for my recording and my reputation is to become a artist and I need more people as connections and one thing that helps that is people having positive things to say about me instead of negative. I also can't be doing this in uni as if I get a bad reputation there then people wont want to work with me and my career will be extremely short.
How would you have conducted this week differently: One way I would have been able to resolve all of these problems would have been booking possibly two days of rehearsals, even though it may seem over kill it would have meant that we all would have been prepared with every song and also could have used the first one the way we did creating the songs and the second one practicing. This way we could have created a fourth song but not record it which is fine. I would have spread them out over the easter break for example have them on the separate weeks. This way I would be able to conduct some research and also ask people their thoughts on the song and. if they had any advise use it in are second song and this way we could create the greatest version of the songs. This would have aloud me to get some good videos in the second one and then used that for my social media. I would have also then have been able to get lucie in and have no problems with recordings as when we come back everyone would be ready and I will have less problems to deal with next week.
This week I learnt a drastic amount about song writing with both Billy and George as when we had are rehearsal and I had to write lyrics it was very good having advice from both of them and we were all able to spread ideas for the songs and so on. I also was able to take thoughts I had for song 1 especially and use a story style lyric writing concept for that song and then ask the boys for ideas to work of and that made it easier for me and i'll need that when im song writing in the future.
