Week 6

Monday 28th April

Planning

Due to personal events that occurred over the weekend I wasn't able to follow the objectives i wanted to for this day. I decided I wanted to create a tiktok account, my reasoning for this is I spoke to a fellow student who is running an event and she said she has been able to get all her work out there thanks to tiktok and I thought If I want a lot of people to see my performance coming up and about my new music being released. This way after today I can create some videos and release them hopefully finding a large audience of people that enjoy my music. My plan if anything goes wrong is talk to my friend who has a lot of experience and there going to coach me on how to do all of this.

Daily Project blogs

I started the day by deciding whether I wanted to create a new account or change the account I already have. The account I have I hadn't posted anything I had only watched videos on it. The positives of me using this account were I already had 50 followers of good friends of mine so I already have a bases of people that are going to see my videos when I post them and they will hopefully share it to other people know. Another positive is I'm going to be able to also save a lot of time creating a whole new account and I can just change the profile picture name and bio and other little aspects to make sure it looks fun but also professional. I decided to keep my account I have as I already have a small fan base of followers to show my content; this way I can ask them to share it. I started of by changing the name of the account because at this moment in time it was my nickname as I only used the account as a joke for my friends however I had to make it professional. I wanted to use my name and then relate it with music. The only other problem was it seemed a lot of people had a similar idea so I was going to have to make my name slightly unique and different. I wanted to use music in my name so as soon as people see my account they then understand that it is going to be related to music. I used underscores instead of spaces as it not only looked cooler but when people read it or type it in to tik tok they will remember it more as its nearly as quick as pressing space but quite easy to remember if there trying to find it again. I then came up with the name George_h_music_2025, even though it's quite long after typing George_h it comes up so wouldnt take the person trying to watch my videos to long.

I then had to find a picture for my profile as thats also one of the first thing people see and according to most people I speak to it does make people think differently about a influencer as if it isnt anything professional they think it isn't a very professional influencer. I wanted to use one of the pictures I got from my photo shoot with Lydia. One reason being these are going to be my cover art for my songs so it will relate to that which will look really good. Another reason is they were taken with a professional camera so look good quality and I relate to them so is a good photo to show people as they look at my profile. I decide to use the one of me looking into the distant as it was taken in the day so very bright so it captures peoples eyes other than the sun set pictures and now i can have that contrast with my cover art and I like this picture the most. The profile can be found in the picture to the left of this text. As you can see there are more followers than I said and this is why I took this picture after posting one of my videos. I also wanted to come up with some video ideas so I spoke to my friends and we all agreed we should make funny content as that is what is ost popular and due to the fact i am a solo artist if I post serious content people will skip as they will very likely see similar content on there for you page and want something different were as if I make them laugh with. a video or re watch it then they might actually be interested in the gig im playing and my music as my video caught their eyes enough for them to re watch it or watch the whole video which I would see as a accomplishment. As you can see i've put ip the difference between my instagram and my tiktok account.

Problem solving

The only problem we had was i didnt post a video because I wanted to have a bit more planning so it wasn't rushed and wasn't at its best ability. The way I was able to overcome this problem is I found three videos I wanted to symbolise or copy a similar idea. This means that when I come to recording a video i know exactly what i want and I can have it perfect for the future. If I was going to do this would have watched some ideas before creating my profile this way I would have achieved doing both in the same day however it isn't the end of the world and i happy with my profile and im glad I spent my time doing it as it looks so much more professional and appealing to my target audience of younger generation of people.

Research

Today and for the rest of the week I'm going to focus all of my research on promotion soI know exactly how to correctly target people i'm looking for and hopefully get a large amount of views on my posts. I also researched into doing up your profile and this is why I focused today on fixing up as I found some really helpful tools.

Conclution & Evaluation

Today was extremely pro active and even though I didnt achieve loads i ewas able to tick something of my list that is going to be able to get my music and gigs out to such a large audiance. Im also able to look into another sidfe of the industry that being influencing and try to see how I do with it as if it goes really wekll i can carry it on after college and possibly for my music when I go to uni or even possibly after.

Wednesday 30th April

Planing & objectives

Today i'm going to bring George Lingard into the studios and record drums for my first track, this would mean that I have finished two tracks if I dont record bass however this will depend on time I have. Then if we have any time spare we could record the drums for song three although die to the fact that i haven't had much time with george and the others to practice this song we will probably focus on my first track and make sure im very happy with the recording so there aren't any problems. Im also going to then talk to harry about booking some more recording studio sessions for next week so there is no problems with my recording and everyone s prepared and i'm not springing it on anyone as that has been a problem for the past few weeks.

I started of by going in the studio ten minutes before are session as there wasn't anyone in there and we had priority after the lesson before where no one was using the studios. I spoke to harry and asked him if he wanted any help setting up as that way we would be able to save a lot of time. The reason this was important is we only had a hour session so we wanted to give george as much time recording as we could so we could get a perfect take and the whole process not be rushed After setting up some of the equipment I went up stairs to get george to tell him to come down to the studios and gert ready to start recording. When I came back harry was half way through setting up so while we waited I explained to him what i wanted. I said to do what we did in rehearsals the week before and ill cue you when the section of the song is changing between verses choruses and the breakdowns. I asked him if he didnt know when to come in for sections and if he didnt know anything about the track that he would want to know before recording. He asked what the bpm was for the track and I went into the studio to tell him and then explained to him it was 75 bpm. I asked harry if he could explain to George the set up while I logged on for him. After setting up all of the equipment we were only twenty five minutes into are studio time which means that we had thirty five minutes left to record the track. We let george listen to the first verse and chorus to get into the feel of the song instead of him winging it for the first take as we then would be wasting time. We then started a take and recorded george however we shortly after realised there was a problem. When we came to recording the chorus george was going out with the guitar and the metromnome. We realsised that it was because of the drumming style george was playing with. After george talking to me and harry we figured out it was because the breakdown sections was in double time. We figured out that out by asking george what bplm he believes it is and going up 10 each time. We then figured out it was double the bpm as the rest of the song which is called double time. After solving this situation we then decided to try to figure out why the guitar was out and we realised that because billy followed the metronome he played his part half the speed so he is going to be out with the drums which meant that i had a decision to make. Iver i have george do what billy does and we do the section differently than the original like i did for song 2. I decide that had to have my songs sound at the best of there ability and i believed then using the original breakdown section so I decide to get rid of the guitar section and re record the drums. I asked george how would he be able to do that as he did follow the guitar for structure, he explained that if he keeps the vocal track and I give him cues we could do it that way and after three takes we got a perfect recording. After this i asked harry if the lyrics are still fine and where to go from here and he explained that I needed to message billy as soon as possible to resolve this situation.

Problem solving

Due to the recording we had originally of the guitar with billy having to be re recorded im now acually behind on my recordings. Although thanks to georges tallent we were able to keep the vocal track which means all I have to record is guitar again although my goal for this recording was to have this song finished although I wasn't able to make this happen. Now we have finished the majority of the song I know need to find some studio time. The way we overcame this is not let it take over the whole track and still record drums which was extremely successful. It also meant I didn't have to re record vocals.

Another problem we have is there is only two weeks left to finish recording and next week im extremely busy. This means I won't be Able to record next week even if I wanted to as it is completely full with studio bookings the next thing I can do is talk to Jordan next week and try to figure out what studio time I can get otherwise my ep will go wrong and I might fail this fmp which I don't want to happen as i love my music.

Conclusion & Evaluation

Even though that today has caused me to be behind my schedule it is best that it happened today and not later on and we were still able to record drums which is extremely successful. If i was going to redo this process I would have found time to record drums at the start and then we very likely would be ahead of the deadlines i have put in place for myself as im now behind which is going to cause large problems with my plans. However today we were still able to achieve what we wanted which was the drum track and worst comes to worst we can have billy record the bass and guitar from home. I am also going to evaluate the fact that I did in fact get my own song incorrect and that why i cant blame billy and its on me. but we will just have to go on from this and try to figure it out.

Thurday 1st May

Planning & introdiuction

Today i'm planning on posting my first tiktok and focusing on promoting my performance and ep. I'm going to ask some of my friends to come help me who have a lot of experience with this specific kind of content. I'm planning on doing this in my two hour break today as I can then find the kind of scenery that I wanted, this to be a park or a playground as i need random things as i want it to confuse the person watching it. As this is going to take place in the afternoon i'm going to do some research into promotion of tiktok so when I actually come to recording the video i know exactly what i want and I understand how the social media aspect works quite well. This research can be found on my research page in the sub page promotion.

DailyProject Blogs

Collaborations: Lydia who took my cover art photos is going to help me record the video for my tik tok as she understands the app and also has good experience with making content people enjoy as here page gets over 1000 views every video she posts. Im going to have her not only record the videos but also direct me in what to do for example what to say and do in the video as the kind of video I want to create consists of little videos put together. Lydia also spoke to me yesterday after college and we discussed what kind of vibe i wanted so i sent her a video from a local band die twice and i wanted a similar style but completely different concept with scenery but keeping that cut of video idea and she understood completely so we went from there. I also asked her if she could edit the videos together today so i could post it and she agreed and said it wouldn't take her anytime at all if i told her the order i wanted for the videos so that means i will be able to be on track for my plans today and also will mean more people can start hearing about the gig as soon as possible which is really good as it is only next week. Im also getting help from my friend group as when we get to the area everyone is going to brain storm and if they come up with a idea then we'll try it as we can then use everyones creativity so we don't get stuck and get as many videos as we can before we have to edit it as we will have a hour long window to get all the footage we can for the tik tok.

Straight after are lesson ended everyone who agreed to help me met up outside of the music building and we started walking round to find different areas we thought would work as there arte multiple parks in the local area. After looking at a few we decided to make are way to a park we new was both a playground and a seperate park area so we could experiment with ideas we had for both cenerys so we fought it would be perfect after searching for 20 minutes we got there and straight away got to work. At the start of the recording I wanted to have some videos of me just saying 7th of may, even though it looks quite funny and random my plan was to get that date which is the day of the performance stuck in peoples heads that are watching the videos. I wanted to have each video from difference distances from the camera. I fought it would be a good idea for me to get further away from the camera. The first video i wanted it to be extremely loud and different to catch the eyes of the views as you have to make people want to watch the video and if people arnt intresterd of the back they will just skip to the next video. We were on a road before we got to the park and there was a cone and as i was explaining this concept to ella one of the people helping she suggesed i pick up the cone and use it as a mega phone and she explained it will catch the audiances attention straight from the start of the video. We all agreed so i had lydia stand quite close to me from the side profile so you can see one the large size of the cone but also how loud it sounded when i screamed through the cone. After recording this video everyone started coming up with ideas and so did I so we rushed to the park. As soon as we got there we all noticed the large sphere shaped climing obstical so i climed to the top and lydia fillmed me from the bellow just using a calm vice saying the 7th of may the reason being was after the cone we fought the video would be much funnier if I spead up the video as it will be like completely different vibes each video which will keep the audiance intreged. After recording this i wanted a far away video as i believed it would look amusing and funny when put together with the other two videos I got lydia to give me a signal as i wanted to be behind a tree and appear out of knowhere and scream the line as I fought it would look better than me just stood there. The only problem was I couldnt see lydia so peaks from a bush and got her to put a thumbs up and then walked out from behind the tree and after a few takes we got the perfect one and it was exactly what I was looking for. I didnt want to repeat this to much as lydia said that the audiance will get bored so you will have to do something else to keep thewre atention for example taslking about my ep or the important information for the gig like multiple bands what kind of music and so on. We saw a merry go round and fought it would be good if I anounced something about the gig every time i faced the camera when i went around and it would look even better when sped up. After this i needed to make a funny clip explaining my music and what it is so people can one learn about the ep and also two know what to expect before watching me perform and it might also make them want to come even more. I saw a tunnel with a small opening and fough if i pull a funny face and say all this information and move out of shot it will look good. I struggled at first but after a will we got the perfect clip for the recordings. After this I decided i was happy and asked if lydia would be able to edit the video together so i could learn. It only took 5 minutes and lydia showed me how to put all the videos at the end and she added a picture of me at the end saying please come which was perfect, after sending it to me she showed me how to post it and also gave me some advice and recommended i post one tomorrow as people will then be even more interested and want to see more content from me. By the end of the day the post already has 500 views ands is growing every time i check which is amazing and i know know a large amount of people have heard about the gig and i also had close to 60 likes which means people like my content enough to go out of there way to like it which is amazing. After seeing this i asked lydia if she would want to record some more content the next day and she was very keen and excited and so was I. I also had no problems today and this is why i don't have a problem solving page for today.

Conclusion & Evaluation

Today was really good for me to keep up to date with my promotion for my ep and performance as I was able to talk about both in one video and get it out to a large audience of people. I also was able to figure out how tik tok works when it comes to editing posts and also actually posting videos on the app so when it comes to me making a new video i know exactly how to do it which is good to know for the future when i'm posting videos about more music and up and coming gigs. I also was then able to post about the video on my instagram as well which is what you can see here.
