Work experience oppertunities in the industry can be crucial when it comes to trying to emerge or become a musican in the industry. What work experiance can do is teach you new skills and help you build connections in the music industry for the future. A key thing work experiance does is it gives you as a person easy exposer. Im going tto list some common work experiance opportunitites sand the pros and cons.I havent actually contacted anyone about doing work experience as i already have a solid job in the music industry however i have research some jobs i would be intrested in and show a email i would use if contacting one of the oportunites there are.
If you are a roadie on a high level for example going on tour with a well know band all over the place your going to get paid really well as they make a lot of money as a band. However the work isn't easy and you need a lot inititave, for example the hours aren't very good if you are doing a festival or large stage for example the stage needs to be finished and up ad running before anyone is aloud to enter the premises and needs to be sound checked. After doing some research they usually start setting up quite early in the morning and the have the remainder of the day to rest before packing it own and if the band is touring you have to do this over and over again all over possibly the world and that is why the pay is so good. Although tis is a log time away from home and you doing actually get involved wit the music as such and really your a construction worker but might get to meet whoever might be touring which would be a cool experience and they might be able to give you some connections getting in the industry.
If you play an instrument and perform on a regular basis you are going to become more confident Infront of people, you are also going to get better at your instrument ability's. This will make you grow as a musician and give you amazing exposer as you will be able to show your instrument or work to many people depending on how often you are performing. Getting work experience with a band can be an amazing way for you to improve your instrument as you have other musicians around to teach you. A really important aspect is you are able to improve your communication skills and in industry understanding for example you will learn about different venues and bands and what they like and if in future you wanted to make a band you know who to contact to get a HeadStart and try to make a name for yourself even though you already have as most of the venue and people in the industry will know you and possibly come to watch you perform.
A big positive of being a performer in the industry or working with a band is you can go to many venues depending on the group you are working for. One thing that performing can really help with is building your socials. For example if you are performing you are going to be playing in front of a live audience and what though people do if they want to get in contact with you or see some more of your music is they will follow you on social media which is a really good way of getting your name out there. If you aren't performing you won't get this however you will still meet the band and anyone else working with the bands and build a good portfolio to help you get a steady job in the industry later on in your career and that is a key part of doing work experience.
A positive of work experience in a studio is you would be able to learn how to use all the equipment there. For example, how to set up microphones for drums, guitars, and other instruments. This means if you are in a studio later you will already know how to use the equipment this would help if you were recording yours or someone Elses music anywhere studio or not as if have this equipment. It also means. If you are trying to get a job in a studio, you can show yourself how to use most of the equipment when it comes to recording, which few people will not have, which will help you get that job opportunity. King in a studio also will allow you not only to meet very likely experienced producers and mixers depending were you do your work experiences, you will also meet many artist very likely recording a wide variety of music which will allow you to network with them and they might want to get in contact with you in the future.
You can work with high quality and expensive equipment for free and learn how it works from someone who has been using it for a while. You are also able to learn about different effects and presets that no one else can access, what this does is put you ahead of anyone else trying to work in a studio or be a producer as you have such a large amount of experience that you can't talk to future higher about. Another thing is if you work hard and show potential in the studio with your work experience, most studios will offer you a successful part-time or full-time job in that studio. Another benefit is the work experience hours are usually varied as some studios work extremely late. The greatest benefit if you are a performer is you get to learn so many techniques and creative ideas and, in the future, implement them into your own work which you wouldn't be able to see or easily find anywhere else.
If i was going to email someone about work experience i would say something like the email bellow. This is a rough draft i would send to a work place asking for work experience however it would vary depending on what role your are asking for.
