Carry the knife at your side, with the blade facing downwards and slightly forwards
Wear safety goggles when cutting with an X-Acto knife
Never pry, unscrew, or force materials with an X-Acto knife, it's for cutting
Report dull or rusty blades to a teacher or mentor immediately. Dull blades are more dangerous than sharp blades
Keep your fingers clear of the blade at all times
Secure your workpiece with one hand with your fingers well away from the cut line, while cutting with the other
Once done, remember to cap/retract the blade
Always place a piece of scrap wood or cutting mat beneath your workpiece, so you don't damage the table
Cut on a flat, stable surface. Never on the floor, your lap, or any soft surfaces
Place scrap wood or a cutting mat underneath your workpiece
Measure and mark your workpiece
Use one hand to secure your workpiece
Cut along your markings on your workpiece, making sure to keep your fingers clear of the blade at all times
Once done, retract/cap the blade
