Wait for the sander to reach full speed before placing the workpiece on the sanding disk/belt
Check that the sanding surfaces are in good condition. Report any dull or damaged sandpaper to a teacher or mentor immediately

Keep your hands a safe distance from the sanding surface
Hold your workpiece firmly with both hands
When using the sanding disk, always sand on the side spinning down
Use firm but gentle pressure

Only adjust the sander when it's off and not moving
Do not walk away from the sander until it's completely still
If sanding at an angle, use the tilt table. Never sand at an angle unsupported
Be careful handling your workpiece after sanding as the workpiece can become heated
Check if the sandpaper is in good condition/smooth
If using the tilt table for an angled cut, adjust the tilt table to the right angle
Start the sander by pressing the on switch
Wait until the sander is fully up to speed
With both hands firmly on the workpiece and clear of the sanding surface
Apply firm, but gentle force and keep the workpiece along the sander
Turn off the sander once you are finished sanding by pressing the off switch
Wait by the sander until it comes to a complete stop
