After I finished the Camino, I spent the rest of Saturday and Sunday with my friend Emma, who lives in Santiago de Compostela. Emma and I are from the same home town and she was my best friend growing up. We have been friends since we were 2, and now we are both in Spain! She studied abroad in Spain before too, but now she is working as an English teacher in Galicia until June. She showed me a great place that gives you a free piece of tortilla de patatas with every drink you buy. I knew I had to try a local wine, since we have learned about it in my wine class. For dinner we shared pulpo de feria and gambos al ajillo, which was an octopus dish and a garlic shrimp dish. Galicia is known for its seafood, which was delicious!

On Sunday we met up for coffee and breakfast in the morning, before exploring the city a bit more. I loved the old town section of Santiago de Compostela, with lots historic buildings, the cathedral, fun shops, and really steep cobblestone streets. We went inside the cathedral which was stunning. I love visiting all the beautiful churches throughout my travels, and this was one of my favorites. I ended up getting several souvenirs and then Emma and I got chocolate with churros. I have really missed spicy foods since being in Spain, so we went to a ramen restaurant for lunch where there was some food with a little bit of spice! It was so much fun to explore a new city and get to see my friend that I have not seen in a while! It was the perfect way to end my Camino and get to see what the city has to offer.
