Parque Ciatudella
I left on Thursday for a quick trip to Barcelona. I did not have a whole weekend there, so I made the most of my available time. On Thursday I started my trip at the Corgi Cafe, which is exactly what it sounds like - a coffee shop with real corgis walking around that you can interact with. This was the perfect way to pass a bit of time before I could check into my Airbnb. Afterwards I headed to the beach. The weather was a lot nicer than I had expected. It was only about 60 degrees but very sunny and perfect weather for walking the beach. Eventually I headed to the Airbnb and checked in, waiting for my friend Jess to arrive. I had my Barcelona trip planned for a month, but Jess decided to join me to we went in on a place to stay together. That night we headed to Mercat de la Boqueria - a very famous market in the city. I had dinner there, which was a fun combination of foods that I tried from different vendors. The food was great and it was lots of fun to explore the different stands.
The next morning I woke up early to explore the city a bit before it got busy. I went to the different buildings designed by Antoni Gaudí, like Casa Milà and Casa Batlló. I wandered around Rambla de Catalunya, the famous shopping street in the city once the stores opened. I headed back to the market again for lunch to try some more food items before heading to the Sagrada Familia for a visit. Sagrada Familia is another construction by Antoni Gaudí, and by far one of the most impressive churches I have ever seem. The architecture is so unique and I was blown away by the colors inside the church, created by the stained glass. I finished the day by going out to dinner with Jess. We got some phenomenal pizza and a glass of wine, which we called studying for our wine exam next week!
I checked out of my Airbnb the last day and left to explore a bit more before my flight. I visited Parque Ciatudella which was beautiful, before heading to the beach again. I found a lot of beautiful sea glass, which is one of my favorite things to collect when I visit beaches. I wandered my way back to the center of the city where I caught the bus to the airport. I enjoyed my last bit of sunshine on an outdoor terrace at the airport before heading back to Sevilla! I only had about two days in Barcelona but I got to see so much!
