View of the Rock of Gibraltar on the bus ride
Mom and baby monkey
On Friday I took a day trip with a tour group to Gibraltar. I have always wanted to see the monkeys there and I am fascinated by the fact that there is a territory that belongs to the UK on the peninsula! I did not know how the customs process would work so it was nice to have a tour guide that could help clear all of that up. We crossed from Spain to Gibraltar and got our passports stamped, then we had officially left the European union. We spent about two hours in the downtown area where I had free time to get lunch and explore. I got fish and chips because it felt appropriate since I was in a British territory! After lunch we walked around the city and eventually got on another smaller bus that would take us up the rock. The ride up was beautiful and the tour guide pointed out important historical landmarks. We stopped three times on the rock: once to see the lighthouse where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, once at St. Michael's Cave, and once to see the monkeys! The monkeys were definitely the highlight of the trip and I wish I had more time to spend observing them. After that we crossed the border to return to Spain and took our bus back to Sevilla!
