On Friday we took a group trip as a program to Ronda, a city that was a 2 hour bus ride from Sevilla. We arrived a little bit after noon and made our way to the bullfighting arena. We got tour the inside, and learned lots about the culture and history of bullfighting, and Stuart told us that the Ronda arena is the oldest bullring in Spain! I have seen pictures and videos of bullfights but it was such a unique experience to be on the sand where the events happen! It reminded me a lot of Roman amphitheaters, which makes sense since the tradition has a lot of Roman influence.
From there we walked around the town a bit, where we stopped at a lookout point to enjoy the beautiful views. The whole city is built on a cliff and I was amazed at how far up we were, and how far I could see. The bridge was the next stop, which brought another view of the lookout. We were all starting to get hungry at that point, so we found a restaurant for us all to sit and have some tapas. I got a couple of different little sandwiches to try, which ended up being fantastic! After lunch we made our way back to the bus stop and headed back to Sevilla!
Aiden, Finn, and I got tickets to go see Gladiator 2 when we got back to Sevilla, and we had over an hour before the movie started so we went to a pub while we waited. They had Guinness there, and it was my first time having Guinness since my trip to Ireland in September! We made out way to the movie theater where I got popcorn. I have not been able to find popcorn at the grocery stores here so I love getting it when I go to movies. The movie was definitely not as good as the first Gladiator, but still very well made! It was the perfect way to end a fun day with the program!
