Sri Datta Bhava Sudharasa Stotram
Sri Datta Bhava Sudharasa Stotram
An Offering of Grace, Love, and Liberation
Sri Datta Bhava Sudharasa Stotram, originally composed in Sanskrit by Paramapujya Sri Sri Vasudevananda Saraswati Swamiji, has been translated into Telugu by Sri Avadhoot Bodhanandendra Saraswati Swamiji, a revered saint in the sacred lineage of Lord Dattatreya.
Swamiji humbly reflects:
“It is only by the boundless compassion of Lord Dattatreya that I have been considered worthy of His grace. I truly believe this is the fruit of the punya (meritorious deeds) earned over many lifetimes. Drawn by His divine inspiration, I journeyed to Gangapur—a holy place sanctified by the long stay of Lord Nrisimha Saraswati, an incarnation of Datta. There, I performed the Parayana of the Guru Charitra, the sacred text in Sanskrit authored by Sri Vasudevananda Saraswati Swamiji.
Following this, I was blessed with the divine darshan of the primordial Lord Himself. Inspired by what I perceived as His Divine Command, I translated the Guru Charitra into Telugu.
Among the many texts composed by Sri Vasudevananda Saraswati Swamiji extolling the glories of Lord Datta, the Datta Bhava Sudharasa Stotram and the Satyavrata Katha are especially significant. Feeling an inner prompting, I encouraged fellow Datta devotees to bring these works into publication.
Today, at the age of 95, my body has grown weak and frail. Yet, one night, Lord Datta appeared in a dream and initiated me into the Datta Ashtakam and the Datta Bhava Sudharasa Stotram. Immersed in bliss, I felt the reassuring embrace of my beloved Guru. With a heart full of devotion, I now share these sacred texts—vibrant with spiritual energy—with my co-devotees. Sincere recitation of these works brings auspiciousness, inner peace, and helps one safely cross the vast ocean of worldly existence.”
Thus, this divine composition has not merely come into print—but has kindled the light of devotion in many hearts.
दत्तं यो भजते नित्यं
मुक्तिमेति न संशयः॥
Dattam yo bhajate nityam
Muktimeti na samshayah ||
Meaning:
Those who pray to, worship, serve, and meditate upon Lord Dattatreya with sincere hearts will surely reach the ultimate goal of moksha (liberation)—filled with joy, peace, and divine union.
Let this Stotram be not just a recitation, but a journey into the heart of Lord Datta, opening the gates to spiritual wisdom, grace, and eternal bliss.
Jai Guru Datta!
Sri Gurudev Datta!
