If knives are for stabbing, these are for hacking and slashing. Tales tell of ""enhanced"" tweakers pouncing into brawls, leaving lacerations and impossible to stitch wounds behind - and on the other end of the spectrum, victims suddenly having their throat slashed open amidst a crowd.
Don't bring fists to a knife fight, right...?
[+] Easy to use.
[+] Can be superheated with purchase of the “Tempered” Melee Overlock in the RELISTORE.
[+] Can be electrified with purchase of the “Voltized” Melee Overlock in the RELISTORE.
[+] Takes up half a vault slot (both hands would be one vault slot.)
[-] Adds 2% to the chrome limit per hand.
[-] Requires a hand prosthetic.
[-] Due to having claws in your knuckles (or fingers), more advanced or focused hand motions (e.g. flipping a coin) become awkward and stinted.
[-] Can be stabbed into your enemy. Though this may have brutal effects on their internals, it runs a high chance of snapping parts of the blades off of your hand (<2 when rolling against an enemy).
A number of bulky metal embeddings lodged into the front of each finger, from the third knuckle to the first knuckle. excluding the thumb which is left bare.
A favoured CQC utility, especially because of its simplicity, at-least among The Vault’s melees.
[+] Allows the user the ability for a slightly more powerful punch, akin to that of a brass knuckle.
[-] Loss of the ability to open your hand fully, making grabbing items marginally more difficult.
Quite literally a “weapon of the ages”, the Yaldabaoth blade replacement is an incredibly simple augment. It replaces the lower half of a user's forearm, down through their hand, with a two foot sword. That’s it.
For those wanting a bit more for their bladed carnage, the sword can optionally be superheated. Though, it doesn’t come without its demerits.
[+] Replaces the entire lower forearm down with a 2 foot sword.
[+] Can be superheated with purchase of the “Tempered” Melee Overlock in the RELISTORE.
[+] Can be electrified with purchase of the “Voltized” Melee Overlock in the RELISTORE.
[+] Cool as fuck.
[-] Adds 3% to the chrome limit per arm.
[-] Replaces the entire lower forearm down with a 2 foot sword.
[-] Using both hands becomes signifigantly more difficult, and in turn two-handed weapons.
A homebrewed piece of technology- founded by the more professional cutters of the Chromeskulls.
It is intended for surgery, allowing for finer, and more precise cuts than that of the average hand. Along with this, the “BIO-BLADES” have safety precautions installed, and any fast-moving hand motion will retract the blades to prevent any injuries to yourself or others.
[+] +2 To all medical rolls.
[+] Each finger can deploy a different surgical instruments.
[-] Adds 0.5% to the chrome limit per finger.
[-] Requires a hand/finger prosthetic.
[-] Can only be applied to one hand.
[-] The safety precautions prevent combat usage.
Built off of a failed Ageira Solutions experimental implant that tried to allow individuals to breathe underwater, it ended up having more use as a tool for filtering hazardous gases, rather than a piece of diving gear.
Over time it has been improved, using technology ripped from smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, the implant will beep loudly whenever gas is detected.
There's a catch though. The user will use all access to their mouth, and will need to eat and drink through a tube.
[+] Allows automatic protection against breathing in hazardous gases and airborne substances. Protection does not extend to any effects other than respiratory.
[+] Grotesque and horrifying appearance adds to Intimidation value
[-] Adds 5% to the chrome limit.
[-] Requires a neck & jaw prosthetic.
[-] You lose the use of your mouth, though, a replacement voice box is usually provided.
[-] You will eat the paste. Users tend to be more frail and skinny, due to being unable to eat solid food.
[-] If it is badly damaged (PTC), the user will be unable to breathe – an emergency tracheostomy can be conducted, however, possibly saving their life.
The medi-corp is an optical augment with all of the abilities of a typical mid-end medical ARD. It can identify injuries and the proper steps to treat them with decent-to-great varying levels of correctness.
Because of the nature of the optic, its silhouette is generally bulky and difficult to disguise, while also being white or red in coloration.
Additionally, the visual feed is generally very poor, and doesn’t form complex shapes very consistently, leading to a fuzzy final feed when it reaches the brain.
[+] Works well in tandem with “BIO-BLADES”.
[+] Easy-access to medical knowledge.
[-] Adds 5% to the chrome limit.
[-] Requires an optical prosthetic.
[-] -2 to perception based roles.
[-] Overusing can cause migraines (6+ times in one roleplay.
[-] Varying degrees of correctness (<3 roll when initially diagnosing an issue to get an incorrect step in the process).
Originally developed by RELISTAR as a discrete way to record video and audio without being seen, the jailbroken blueprints were wildly different than what was originally expected
Taking the shape of what is essentially a camcorder lodged into the user's eye socket, the Killjoys can record short stints of video up to 480p with audio, and 1080p with no audio.
Despite its base model being relatively useful for what the Chromeskulls can do with it, the spark plugs behind the modified design opted to include a version dubbed the “Eye-gram”, which can display a low quality hologram that spins, consistently, and slowly.
[+] Able to record 5 minutes of 480p video with audio.
[+] Able to record 5 minutes of 1080p video without audio.
[+] Can zoom up to 1.75x.
[+] If equipped with the “Eye-gram”, the Killjoys can display a low-poly spinning holographic image, with an added chrome cost.
[-] Adds 3% to the chrome limit (without "Eye-gram" attachment.)
[-] Adds 5% to the chrome limit (with "Eye-gram" attachment.)
[-] Requires an optical prosthetic.
[-] Fast movement during recording causes pixelation and visual artifacting.
[-] A bright red recording light activates when recording, making it easy to identify when it’s active.
[-] When recording longer than five minutes, the audio completely cuts out and the visual feed drops down to 144p, and the user starts experiencing debilitating headaches.
A “make-it-your-own” Chromeskull classic, the Gangsta-19 is a wasteland handgun permanently affixed onto the side of the user's arm, connected via an exposed steel plate with all the important internals hidden inside said arm.
[+] Easy to use.
[+] Can be equipped in .9mm, .45 ACP or .22 lr.
[-] Adds 5% to the chrome limit per arm.
[-] Requires an arm prosthetic.
[-] Difficult to use with long sleeves.
[-] Susceptible to jamming and misfiring (<3 roll when firing.)
.9mm: 15 (+1) RNDS.
.45 acp: 10 (+1) RNDS.
.22 lr: 20 (+1) RNDS.
An interesting choice of weaponry, this augment replaces the user's forearm with an improvised break action shotgun. Bolted underneath the shotgun is a 12 inch blade or axe head smithed out of a lawnmower blade.
A small curved metal plate is also optionally implanted by the wrist side of the stump with a hook welded on, allowing basic use of the limb and making sword fighting with the blade implant easier.
[+] Intimidating.
[+] Break-action shotgun built into your arm.
[+] Can be superheated with purchase of the “Tempered” Melee Overlock in the RELISTORE.
[+] Can be electrified with purchase of the “Voltized” Melee Overlock in the RELISTORE.
[-] Adds 3% to the chrome limit per arm.
[-] Removes the user's forearm entirely.
[-] Functionality of the limb is extremely reduced.
KICKBLADES - A Chronatech product which was widely praised by citizens of the Pacific Union for its ingenuity, having a blade that extended from the shin, which could rotate from -45 to 45 degrees. Each Kickblade is segmented, intentionally allowing it to ‘snap’ at these points a few times before being unusable, for the sake of reuse.
It was primarily used by daredevils and hikers who utilized the blades for piercing rock and keeping position for either tricks or for covering distance. Eventually, as all products do, copies and knockoffs were made. Copies circulated far and wide, leading to the Chromeskulls gaining blueprints for production of these KICKBLADES, at a far worse quality than their official counterpart.
Now in the hands of the Chromeskulls, they're used for mounting skyscrapers and buildings for reconnaissance- and also combat by jumping down on their foes- leading to gruesome results.
[+] Each blade has 90 degrees of operational range.
[+] Each blade is serrated and are strong enough to pierce rock.
[+] The blades are concealable.
[+] Takes up half a vault slot (both legs would be one vault slot.)
[-] Adds 2.5% to the chrome limit per leg.
[-] Requires a lower leg prosthetic.
[-] After being used combatively 3 times, the blades will snap, requiring a new blade to be installed.
[-] The joints of the blade can be broken with ease and can be used against the user.
The ‘PESTERSKULL’ is essentially a smart phone strapped to your face. It gives its user the basic capabilities of a PDA combined with an average quality camera, giving an 'alternate reality' effect popular before the flash. The controls are done through a basic set of hand signals, making operation somehow clunky and convenient. The optics are capable of running PESTERCHROME and similar applications, but lack the utility a more traditional HUD would have. To access the intranet, the pre-installed antenna needs to be extended.
Minor Positive
[+] More convenient than a standard PDA.
[+] Able to access PESTERCHROME and TUNIC.
[+] Can be used in conjunction with a PPD, having the PPD installed into it.
[+] Applications are overlaid on top of the camera view. You can finally be productive while arguing in PESTERchat!
[-] Adds 2% to the chrome limit.
[-] The camera can't record, it's solely used for sight.
[-] Needs an at minimum 6-inch antenna to access the intranet.
[-] Requires an optic.
[-] Not a HUD, lacks combat features.
Originally developed as a ‘taste-testing’ tool often used by Chemics, the EASEL arm augment allows for the quick dispersal of ICE and/or another drug of choice in the form of a fine mist, the mist is released from the wrist by pressing the middle and ring finger against the palm. It has evolved past its niche use as a taste-tester and become a favorite of junkies looking for a quick boost when using an inhaler would be inconvenient.
Suggested by BrrayDraws
[+] Works best with ICE, but can be used with other liquidized forms of Chromeskull drugs (Sap, etc.)
[+] Allows a quick and easy hands-free deployment.
[+] Stores 2 small tanks of drugs of your choice, with 5 uses each before needing to be replaced.
[-] Adds 3% to the chrome limit.
[-] Requires a lower arm prosthetic.
[-] Black ICE cannot be used.
[-] Constant use without maintenance leads to a moisture buildup that can develop rust and cause circuitry issues.
[-] The simple and shoddy nature of its construction leads to a chance of detonation when shot. (NAT 1 roll.)
