Warnke Covered Bridge was the last bridge Everett Sherman built. Sherman's health was failing and he moved to Richmond, Indiana once the Bridge was complete, where he died soon after.
Built in 1896, Warnke Covered Bridge spans Swamp Creek with 51-feet. Swamp Creek has an average bed width of 45-feet at the Bridge site. Swamp Creek drains a small portion of northest Preble County.
The Warnke Covered Bridge has a tin roof and white-painted, vertical siding. Each side of the Bridge has a small window. This Bridge has a Child's truss with a kingpost center panel. Each side has a wooden guardrail. The floor is horizontal planking interfaced with two lengthwise runners.
The Bridge is a single span and rests on cut stone abutments. Reinforced in 1913 and wing walls added, the Warnke Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is still open to local traffic. Warnke Covered Bridge was restored about 2008.
