The Blackwood Covered Bridge was named after a local family and was built in 1881 by builder E. B. Henderson. The 70-foot Bridge spans Pratts Fork, which is a tributary of the Shade River, a significant drainage channel in this region.
The Blackwood Bridge has a multiple kingpost truss and is open for local traffic. It has a tin roof and reddish-brown painted siding. The bridge has cut stone abutments. The Blackwood Covered Bridge is located in a secluded, beautiful location.
