Built in 1875, the Palos Covered Bridge was named after a town located nearby. The Bridge spans Sunday Creek with 81 feet.
The Bridge has a variation multiple kingpost truss. Palos Covered Bridge has been rehabilitated about 2010. The interior has new beams and additional steel bars and bolts. The Bridge has a steel pier for additional structural support. The original stone abutments are still supporting the Bridge.
Palos Bridge continues to be maintained and still serves the local traffic. The Bridge is located in a broad, open valley and sits just off State Route 13, which allows visual access to numerous travelers even though they do not have to use the Bridge. Very near Palos Covered Bridge is the railroad that continues to be in use. Palos Covered Bridge is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. (Covered Bridges Today 1989 by Brenda Krekeler)
