Even people who live there seem unsure whether Nelson and Tasman are separate regions or just one. Tasman's regional capital is Richmond, which is a suburb of Nelson, while Nelson Region is really only the rest of the city of Nelson. But most of Tasman is extremely rural and small – and very beautiful. And everywhere here the weather here is generally better than Wellington’s, so it's a popular place.
Nelson is reckoned a very agreeable place to live - though this isn't its finest moment.
On the way up to Abel Tasman National Park, this is a great place for a break.
I barely know the park at all - it's quite a job to get there - but everything about it is lovely.
Pleasant local centres and good places to stop on the way to Collingwood - but not much to report here.
Almost nothing here except a lovely lake, But be aware the water can be very cold, and the rocks very slippery. Don't go out on your own - like I did!
