New Zealand’s lighthouses are 20th century affairs - which means they're not so much grand lighthouses where lighthouse-keepers would live as just lights. But there’s still a strong affection for them. The light at Cape Farewell looks a bit like R2D2 or a Dalek, with it’s little arms holding out a solar panel. As usual it's quite a climb up the hill, and as usual the wind completely distorts the trees and despite the sun makes things bitterly cold – so I didn’t stay long. But it was a nice afternoon out.
