When you mention Palmerston North people look a bit sideways and say 'it's a good place to bring up children’. This is normally interpreted to mean ‘it’s as dull as ditchwater, but at least it’s safe, and the schools are OK.' I suspect Palmie is actually better than this, though there's talk of 'gangs' and some of the modern buildings in the town centre do little to lift the spirit. Still, let's see what there is ... some of these link to more pictures, some don't.
The Ladies Rest is a particularly nice little 1930s building.
The 1960s/70 didn't do Palmie any favours.
The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit has been rather over-restored and over-coated with white paint, but it's certainly stunning.
Once upon a time I worked out the sequence of the numbers, but I've forgotten it ... or even whether there was a sequence.
More concrete ugliness.
