Cable Car

The Cable Car is a Wellington icon and a must-do tourist attraction. It's really just a funicular railway, and it only runs up and down the hill on one track - though it has five stations. But everyone loves it.

At the top of the hill there's a little Cable Car Museum where you can sample life on a historic old carriage. If you had the money you could travel inside - but failing that you could sit on the outside with a strap to hold you in place. It must have been terrifying!
