Collingwood is the last place of any significance on the North West corner of the South Island. I stayed in the delightful Old Police Station pictured here – which is basically a house with a one-room police office on the side and a tiny lock-up in the garden.
Below are – the Old Police Station, the Courthouse conveniently next door (and now a cafe), the Post & Telegraph Office (two storeys – posh!) and Tinky’s Pies, ‘world famous in New Zealand’. Then the beach and lastly the wonderful Oystercatchers.
