When one realizes the root cause, one can understand the effects

Here, at Muthulakshmi Nagar, We’ve realized-enjoyed the positive effects; but may not necessarily the root cause.

But for the road that links Pughazhendi st and Saradambal Street ,the portion starting from Kambar street to Pugazhendi street and the portion starting with Saradambal street onwards would have been disconnected; Beautiful, sprawling Muthulakshmi Nagar would have been several bits-and-pieces colonies.

In its original lay-out, Pughazendi street dead-ends mid way at the Saradambal street end. It was left to a few service minded visionaries to rectify the situation by taking steps in forming the link road.

Form a road- by individuals- 25 years back..!

Arduous, it may sound, even today- not for these folks.

These people were responsible for the link road.

The task involved the likes of

- dealing with local Panchayat

- Coordinating with MMDA

- Dealing with the promoter

- Coordinate with the then local residents to collect the money

required for buying the plot for forming the road

- Arranging for an alternate plot for the owner

- and many more....

Each of these is a big project in itself. Even today, with the kind of advancements in the system that makes it easy to approach authorities, it takes great deal of effort.

Many of the then residents did not know and realize what happened around them. No wonder, many of the current residents of the colony do not know this either. The folks responsible for obtaining the road acted in such a selfless and non-pompous manner that it hardly had any publicity. In today's context such an action would have turned them into heroes..!

This was the trigger to the formation of the association. But sustaining an association in the formative stage was a staggering task with many challenges. But these challenges were met with and handled with efficiency.

In the process, we formed the core values for the association- Ensure setting up of core infrastructure for the Nagar and great relationship with local authorities.

The name Chitlapakkam Muthulakshmi Nagar welfare association came to be associated with unity and cooperation.

CMWA came to draw such a respect from all quarters including the authorities that the subsequent office bearers enjoyed considerable clout and support from authorities while representing issues.

We are sure- there were many more faceless folks who were instrumental in this cause in the formative stages.

Some of these folks are not with us ..! Many may not even be known to us..! Some of them continue to serve the association with the same kind of vigor and service oriented attitude that the association has grown from strength to strength…!

Let us take a second to salute these folks; Pioneers; Torchbearers with pride and respect..!
