Establishment of link road
Link road between Pugazendhi street and Saradambal Street was established. This was achieved with the efforts of the Association office bearers with contributions from the members.
The link road literally connected the Head and Body of the Nagar, expanded the horizon of our Nagar, Paved way for a self contained Nagar.
This is now a popular spot for conducting annual events like sports day and houses Sri Vallabha Ganapathy Veera Anjaneyar Temple, a prominent land mark for our nagar...!
Stop the sale of well water
Extracting and selling groundwater from a private well near Muthulakshmi street was stopped. This was possible through united effort and organized demonstration of protest on 23rd Sep 92. This prevented depletion of ground water at our Nagar.
Unique Insurance Scheme
In the world of uncertainty, the only thing that is certain is uncertainty itself..!
Sudden loss of Sri Ramakrishnan one of the back-bone members of the association and one who was also instrumental in the formation of the association, seeded the idea for an insurance coverage for the members. Thus born the Group Janatha Personal insurance coverage for the association members. This coverage is administered by National Insurance Co. Ltd. The premium payment was made from the subscription. The scheme also provided for expanding the coverage to the family members (Spuse & Children) with nominal premium.
While we wish that there is no instance for invoking the insurance claim, it was very useful when one such incidence took place the very same year.
Yes... We lost Jayanathan another important member of our association and our Nagar resident in a tragic road accident.
The association coordinated with National Insurance to get the claim amount reach Mrs Jayanthan.
Address Book
The contact details of the members was compiled and released in the form of an address book in 1996.
Merit award
A scheme to recognize the efforts of the wards of our members
was introduced in the year 2000. Meritorious students of 10th and 12th standards are recognized with a merit award. Sri. M.V.Vaithiyalingam,
the then MLA Tambaram Consituency formally introduced this scheme during the annual day function.
National Calamities
She makes her living by making broom sticks from the coconut leaves shredded in the roads and has a shelter that can hardly be called a hut even..!
We were collecting contributions, especially old clothes from the Nagar residents towards Gujarath earth quake victims relief.
Piles of Old clothes have been collected, more than we could carry..! We were about to wind up the collection.
She was watching all these from the corner of the street with more than the curiosity of the by-stander. She came up to us hesitantly and asked if we would accept clothes from her. After an affirmative answer from us she ran away to her house (?) to fetch some old clothes while we were waiting for her to come back.
She came back with a brand new Saree that she bought that day. Seeing her poor condition, we said there is no need to donate any new clothes and old ones would do.
She said sheepishly, she had no old clothes. Well.. she had only new clothes...Must be rich... thus ran our sarcastic thoughts!
She said the new one was the only saree other than the one that she was wearing ...!
She insisted on donating the new one saying that she can manage with the old one for a year more..till she saves for a new one...!
Some of us shed more tears at that moment than we ever did in our life time...! We felt as emotionally moved at that moment as on hearing the plight of the earth-quake victims..!
That day, We found the richest of our Nagar and learnt a lesson or two from her..!

If he was to be there to witness this, his lines would have run something like
இருப்பவர்கள் இருக்கையிலும்
இல்லாதவர் இருக்கு என்பார்..!
The association always rises to the occasion and the Nagar residents have always been liberal when it comes to contributing to public cause.
The following are a few that the association coordinated collection:
CM’s kargil relief fund
Orissa flood relief
PM’s relief fund for Gujarat earthquake victims
CM’s relief fund for Tsunami victims, Thane Victims. Uttarakhand disaster Victims (Jul-2013), Chennai floods (Dec-2015)
Chitlpakkam Lake preservation
Our association is a member of Chitlapakkam lake preservation committee and has been actively involved in activities of preservation of the the lake and ground water table.
Association has contributed financially to this cause by collecting Rs 100 from the members.
Share Auto
Thanks to the perseverance of our association and the ever helpful authorities, we had the long awaited share auto introduced in our locality on 14-Apr-2012.
CMWA celebrates Silver Jubilee 17-Feb-2016
Today is a great day in the history of CMWA, the day we get together to celebrate its Silver Jubilee.
Silver Jubilee of CMWA signifies the completion of 25 years of its existence. It is just not an event, but is a special milestone. A milestone denotes a significant stage or event in the development of something. In case of our Association too, it’s not just about its existence for 25 years, but, also about its continuous development.
When we talk of associations, there are many. But, Is there a differentiator that makes CMWA special? Yes..! There is one..! It is the development of unity among the members that binds them as a family. When we recollect the nostalgic memories of the 25 long years, we definitely have enough justification to feel proud of ourselves..!
When we are talking of people of diverse culture, personality and individual attributes, finding something in common, that binds them and helps them to relate with one another with ease is essential. Important and essential as it may be, it is also as difficult to find such a common thread among many. We, at CMWA, have found that one thread that links all of us. It is the love and respect for one another. When you come to know that such an environment of mutual love and respect has been a hall-mark of this association from the day it has been founded, you hardly feel surprised at its exalted current state!
In the context of present days, where people wanting to Operate alone rather than Co-Operate with others, finding an association like CMWA may be a tough task. Each and every member of the association feeling enthused and proud to be part of the whole rather than wanting to be of his own is the hallmark of CMWA. It is indeed the secret of its success and Glory..!
We at CMWA believe in “Love all Serve all “ – a sacred dictum that encompasses our principle of equality. Let’s take a moment at this august occasion to reinforce our belief and commitment in this principle and march towards the golden jubilee..!
Long live our UNITY .. Long live CMWA .. Long Live India..!

Roadside Rainwater Harvesting by CMWA Youth Wing
With depleting water table everywhere, it is very essential to harvest the rain water effectively. While, there are houses with RWH points, the Youth Wing of CMWA has gone beyond this boundary and embarked on a project to harvest the rainwater falling on road side. Though, the pilot is being done now, the ground work by the Youth Wing commenced almost a year before. There had been enthusiastic planning and active effort by them all along that has culminated into the below cited Pilot..
Kudos to the Youth Wing... They have arrived ... to take over from the aging Seniors...!
We can now heave a sigh of relief ... !
