IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME. I AM POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE. I POSESS PRIDE, POISE, PERSEVERANCE & THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE FOR MYSELF...
The Master Schedule is designed to balance the needs and strengths of teachers and students. A primary consideration is the diverse needs of our student body, and designing offerings that respond to their interests. We also attempt to respond to teacher requests and recommendations, as possible. The new No Child Left Behind legislation places additional constraints on who can be assigned to which class.
There are many constraints in our schedule, and designing it takes a great deal of time and effort. Ms. Emami has done an outstanding job in balancing a variety of needs and demands, and developing an extremely responsive schedule.
Any changes in student schedule or teacher schedules have an effort on other variables. As a result, it is requested that changes be requested only under the most pressing circumstances. The following are guidelines for schedule change requests:
1. All requests for changes in student schedules must be initiated by the Counselor, in writing. They must be approved by the SLC Administrator, and the Principal, before being processed.
2. Changes in student schedules will only be approved in the case that the course is in the wrong sequence (Math and English), the course has already been passed, or in the case of an elective, the student desires a different elective. In all cases, availability of courses to be changed to in the same period will be a factor.
3. No schedule changes can be processed after the first week of the school year (or 1st week of the second semester).
4. Teachers requesting a change in a student/s schedule must also submit the request in writing, and get approval from the SLC Administrator and the Principal. Reasons for the request must be based on the same criteria as above. Under no conditions should a teacher change a student’s or group of students’ schedules without getting approval first.
5. Please do not accept a student into your class unless they have been formally scheduled as indicated above.
6. Always consider a student enrolled in your class if his or her name appears on your roster. If a student on your roster does not report to your class, he or she should be counted absent. In the event of changes to schedules, the counselor and attendance officer will work together to mediate errors in attendance.
