At CHEC, students are able to demonstrate standard mastery in a variety of ways. Students collect student work samples that prove standards mastery throughout the course of study. These work samples demonstrate that students have met not only the content standards, but also the curricular standards of rigor, relevance, social justice. These samples are collected and reflected upon as a collection of work in a portfolio that follows them throughout their school careers at CHEC.

Interims assess students’ progression to standards mastery. The DCPS Paced Interim Assessments or Pilot ANET administered in grade 10 is used throughout the year to provide real time student achievement data. Assessments generated in class also will be used to monitor student progress and achievement. Teachers then can use this data to re-teach lesson and address misconceptions that the assessment revealed. Consult the instructional calendar for more details.
