Responsibility for School Property and Care of School Building
We are the stewards of this building and of all of the property in it. There is a great deal of valuable property, that, if lost or damaged, is not easily replaced. As such, every staff member is responsible for the proper care and maintenance of all furniture, equipment, and materials placed in their charge, and for ensuring that students do the same. These are part of the professional responsibilities of each staff member. In addition, staff needs to be aware of and comply with the fire code requirements in regard to storage, use of paper in the rooms, neatness, hoarding, etc.
Eating in Classrooms:
Because we have a limited number of custodians for a very large facility, and a lot of use of the building by community and central office, we must cooperate with the maintenance staff. Eating and drinking (except water) must be only in designated lounges, workrooms or cafeteria, not in the classrooms. This rule must be enforced with students as well. There is no eating in classrooms. The maintenance staff tries to do all they can to keep the building clean and free of tiny critters but we must remember this is a team effort.
Items Hanging from the Ceiling
Please be aware, we are not allowed to hang anything from the ceiling as it is considered a fire hazard. This has been cited in past Fire Marshall inspections and will result in a fine for the school if not adhered to.
Common space (Computer labs, Auditorium, Model UN, Cafeteria):
All uses of these spaces are prohibited unless scheduled by Mr. Tobias or Mr. Odom. This is to ensure that there are no conflicting uses.
Parking Garage:
The parking garage is for CHEC Faculty and Staff only. Under no circumstances, give out the garage code. Any visitors, who have a need for parking, should contact Mr. Odom before arrival.

Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 9:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am – 3:00pm
Sunday: Closed
Additional hours will be available before school opening and during special events.
