Flat,
I have been thinking of you and yours the past days and wanted to share this thought:
I worked with a man that looked a lot like the actor/dancer Gene Kelly. He was a clean cut, honest, handsome man. And, a Marine: a trained soldier in the Art of War, serious in his attitude toward combat and proud of the military heritage of which he was a part.
We were talking one day about battle and he ask me a question that has stayed with me for years: What do you do if you find yourself ambushed, pinned down, and under fire?
I did not know, having a lack of knowledge in this area of knowledge.
Here is the surprising answer: Attack the ones ambushing you. A direct, head on, swift rush without thought of harm or casualties. It is the only reaction. Why?
An ambush is disigned to hold you in a pre-determined position in order to kill you. Both directions, the way you were going and the way you came from, are both open to fire. If you stay where you are, you will die. The only thing the enemy is not expecting is attack, and, that is the only option. Perhaps, you will die in the attack, however, that is a "perhaps." What is certain is this: the three other options (going back, staying where you are, or going forward) are sure to kill you.
So, what has this to do with those exiting the WT?
From what I have noticed, folks "come out" of the WT because they, due to conscience, the choose "Truth" over "Error" and they either are driven out or just leave. They step out and, then, WHAM, they are just nailed. There is this huge, emotional backlash. They just get hammered. Doubts, uncertainties, thier person and intentions are blacklisted, the confusion of belief around them is un-nerving. What to do?
They have been ambushed by Satan.
And they do what is natural in this situation: they "hunker down." This is where Satan wants them: out in the open, paralyzed, becoming weaker with each momment, in a pre-known position that was picked because it allows the enemy to use his resources to best advantage.
Here is where we must take the least natural but only survivalble action: we must DO SOMETHING. Attack. Take action.
I wanted to share this story with you because it has encouraged me to "move out" even though I am moving into the face of the enemy. It really sucks to have this as the only option. But, as was pointed out at BRCI in one of the talks, "We are in a war!" This war is going to continue as long as Satan and Christians are on the same planet.
Be of good courage.
Brotherly empathy,
Mountain Dweller
