-obvious blood or wounds
-unable to walk
-unable to climb or swim
-cold and still
-drooling
-discharge from eyes, nose, or mouth
-weak/ thin
-other general signs of injury and illness
If the weasel, mink, marten, or fisher has been attacked by a cat, dog, or other animal, looks injured near a road, or shows any of the signs of injury and illness, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
Signs that a weasel, mink, marten, or fisher is orphaned: Weasels, minks, martens, and fishers need at least one month or more with their mothers. If you see a weasel, mink, marten, or fisher without their mother, check to see if the mother returns after a few hours. If the mother does not return to retrieve the baby, the baby is weak or thin, if the baby shows any signs of injury or illness, or the mother is clearly dead, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
