-obvious blood or wounds
-cracks on the shell
-blood on the shell
-balance or buoyancy problems
-swollen eyes
-discharge from the eyes, nose, or mouth
-other general signs of injury and illness
If the turtle has been attacked by an animal, looks injured near a road, or shows any of the signs of injury and illness, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
Turtles do not need their mother once they have hatched. If you see a baby turtle, leave it alone unless it shows signs of injury or illness.
