Bats have high risk of rabies; NEVER touch a bat
-obvious wounds or blood
-injured legs or wings
-paralysis
-unable to fly
-signs of rabies
-stuck in a trap
-other general signs of injury and illness
If a bat looks like it has been attacked by a cat, dog, or other animal, looks injured near a road, or shows any of the signs of injury and illness, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
Signs that a bat is orphaned: Baby bats have little to no fur. If you see a baby bat in the open without their mother for more than a few hours, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
