-obvious blood or wounds
-unable to walk
-shivering
-vomiting
-discharge around the nose
-difficulty breathing (gasping or rapid breathing),
-wetness around the mouth
-other general signs of injury and illness
If the chipmunk has been attacked by a cat, dog, or other animal, looks injured near a road, or shows any of the signs of injury and illness, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
Signs that a chipmunk is orphaned: Baby chipmunks may be out of their burrows at times. If the mother is not with the baby, leave the baby alone and check back in a few hours to see if the mother returns. If the mother does not return, the baby is thin or weak, if the baby shows any signs of injury or illness, or the mother is clearly dead, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
