If a gamebird has been attacked by an animal, looks injured near a road, or shows any of the signs of injury and illness, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
Signs that a gamebird is orphaned: Gamebirds will stay with their mother for about 4 months and their nests will be near or on the ground. Gamebirds will stay very close to their mother when they are young. If a baby gamebird is in distress and the mother does not return, weak or thin, the bird has no feathers, or the mother is clearly dead, contact a wildlife rehabilitator for assistance.Â
