Foxes are more likely to carry rabies: use caution
-obvious blood or wounds
-unable to walk
-injury to legs
-limping
-paralysis (can be partial)
-staggering
-circling
-self-mutilation
-acting aggressive or acting tame
-other signs of rabies
-other general signs of injury and illness
If the fox has been attacked by an animal, looks injured near a road, or shows any of the signs of injury and illness, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
Signs that a fox is orphaned: If a baby fox is without their mother, check to see if the mother returns after a few hours. If the baby fox becomes weak, shows signs or injury or illness, the mother does not return after a while, or the mother is clearly dead, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.
