August 2026
Happy August All!
August means we are past the county fair and moving onto the state fair. It is always fun to see the project the youth have completed and this year the Bob Elrod building was full! July brought heat and humidity, but I am grateful for the rain we did get. The crops are looking pretty good for it being the middle of the summer.
One common trend I've seen in the gardens is the presence of Squash Vine Borer, more information here: https://ag.purdue.edu/department/entm/extension/fruit-vegetable-insects/squash-vine-borer.html . Be sure to keep an eye our for damage as these pests can take out the most healthy of plants.
If you have any questions about upcoming programming or Ag questions in general, please reach out to the Extension Office. Phone: 260-563-0661 (Ext 1408) or by emailing me directly at gschortg@purdue.edu. For in person meetings I would suggest setting up a time as I am not in the office as much with programming and trainings.
Best Wishes,
