Purdue Extension-Wabash County
December is Here!
I hope everyone had a restful and tasty Thanksgiving. I will admit I was not ready for the arctic blast of air that arrived with December, but then again it is winter. Farmers got in the crops and now is time for crunching numbers and planning for next year. Program planning and teaching are at the top of the to-do list this month for me, as well as some time off to spend with family.
Keep an eye out for 2025 programing! There will be a 2025 Extension Master Gardener Basic Training starting in March, a Landscape & Lawncare Series in February and I'm working on getting an Adult Farmer Class set up with speakers.
Feel free to reach out if you'd like to have a meeting! However, December is a busy time for me so call or email before heading into the office. If you have any questions about upcoming programming or Ag questions in general, please reach out to the Extension Office. Phone: 260-563-0661 (Ext 1408) or emailing me directly at gschortg@purdue.edu
Best Wishes,

November Review!!
Extension Educators from around Northeast Indiana pulled together a 2-day event where residents could learn more about homesteading topics and get hands on experience.
Budgets for Homesteading
Lunchtime Announcements
Starting Raised Beds
Raising Goats
Participants in this class got the chance to butcher and process their own chicken. The meat was then used in the Chicken Processing Class.
Folks in this session got to see how to properly cut down a tree and maintain thier chainsaws.
Each year all the Agriculture and Natural Resource Educators meet at the Beck's Ag Center near Purdue's campus to get yearly updates and also hear from a variety of speakers for this 2 day event.
