Happy August Everyone,
July came and went in the blink of an eye. We had a great county fair with wonderful livestock and non-livestock projects. All the 4-H youth did an outstanding job!! A special thanks to everyone who entered a project into our Adult Open Show, we had over 90 entries and everything was excellent, our judges had a hard time picking champions. The hope is to grow and continue the Adult Open Show into future to help county members show off their hard work along side the 4-H projects. Also, special thanks goes out to everyone who brought out their planters to help beautify the grounds during fair, most notably Mckillip Machinery.
Now that the county fair is over, August brings state fair activities and plans to get back into the schools for the fall of 2024. Planning has begun for the 2024 Ag Expo and needs assessments are being done for a Spring Master Gardener Basic Training. I continue to do mentoring for other educators and chatting with farmers about their crops. August is a time when we see a lot of drought stress and disease stress in our fields and lawns. Feel free to email or call with your issues, if you email me pictures it would be best if you could get some close up photos and also some from a distance so we can look for patterns.
If you have any questions about upcoming programming or Ag questions in general, feel free to reach out to the Extension Office. Phone: 260-563-0661 (Ext 1408) or emailing me directly at gschortg@purdue.edu
Best Wishes,

July Review
The Wabash County 4-H fair brings in hundreds of projects ranging from food sciences to swine. The Youth of our county do an outstanding job performing and producing different projects to be judged at the fair. We had wonderful entries and excellent help throughout the week. Thank you to all the volunteers and club leaders who help make the fair possible and to our office staff and 4-h educator who work tirelessly in the background to make sure things go smoothly.
