Purdue Extension-Wabash County
Greetings All and Happy New Year,
December was a month full of programing, holidays, vacation time and plenty of good food. I was please to see that there were a number of precipitation events to help saturate our field soils and lawns after a significant drought. The Farmers' Almanac "anticipate(s) the winter of 2024-2025 to be wet and cold for most locations" (source: https://www.farmersalmanac.com/extended-forecast). I am here for the moisture, since we need to make up for lost precipitation the last half of 2024. After continued conversations with Wabash farmers, I've found that there were a number of below and above average yields for the 2024 year for both corn and soybeans. Now the cooler temperatures have moved in and farmers should bee looking for time off and maybe some ice fishing.
Upcoming programs include Leaving a Lasting Legacy, Fort Wayne Farm Show, PARP classes, Master Gardener Training and a Landscape and Lawncare Series in February, more information below.
Feel free to reach out if you'd like to have a meeting! However, January is a busy time so call or email before heading into the office. If you have any questions about upcoming programming or Ag questions in general, please reach out to the Extension Office. Phone: 260-563-0661 (Ext 1408) or emailing me directly at gschortg@purdue.edu
Best Wishes,
