Purdue Extension-Wabash County
Happy May Everyone,
It is the first of may and farmers are going full speed ahead in their fields. Sporadic rain has damped a few plants, but we've both corn and soybeans planted and even some germination! I have yet to buy annual flower or plant my tomatoes and peppers, but once Mother's Day hits, everything is going in the ground.
In April we kicked off our Spring Extension Master Gardener Class with 25 participants, these classes will run from April to May, Thursday afternoons from 2:00-5:00pm in various locations in Huntington, Miami and Wabash County. Land owners have been asking about cash rent values throughout the county. We've also been doing spring programing at the local libraries about Gardening and Embryology.
Feel free to reach out if you'd like to have a meeting! However, May is a busy time so call or email before heading into the office. If you have any questions about upcoming programming or Ag questions in general, please reach out to the Extension Office. Phone: 260-563-0661 (Ext 1408) or emailing me directly at gschortg@purdue.edu
Best Wishes,

April Review!
May was a wet month during the first half. With many high volume precipitation amounts. However, there was good soil drying with warmer temperatures and lots of wind. Some of our farmers were able to get seeds in the ground before May 1 and we even had a few folks get crop germination! This is a photo of the Wabash River after many rain events and reservoirs were full.
