● donation towards new smart boards
● donation towards skiing for p7
● donation towards P7 jumpers
● donation towards Alltnacriche.
The pupil council and P7 will be organising The School Sponsor day this term. We will be raising money to create a nurture space.
Pupils council will organise 3 charity days (normally children in need, comic/sports relief & local charity).
SIP
We have 2 main priorities:
● 1) Literacy - focus on reading and gaining our READING SCHOOLS AWARD
● 2) Numeracy - developing resources, progressions and skills
Plus, we will continue with our RRS badge SILVER award
Parental help
● We always welcome parent helpers for reading and working with small groups.
Parents require a PVG - I have asked THC how we go about this.
Security
● This has been an ongoing discussion with the council regarding the security and safety at Alvie.
● A new fob system was to be installed in the summer holidays but work had to stop due to finding Bats roosting in the building. This means a special survey has to be carried out before any further work can be done. I have been told this should happen in the October holidays.
As always, thank you for your support and help.
Chairperson’s report:
1/ The main agenda for tonight meeting was fundraising, SR shared with us the 2 of the school smart boards were broken and asked if the parent council could have a think about any grants or funding that would be available to help replace these as they are fundamental to the children and their learning. In total this would cost around £4000. Some parents had some great ideas that we are going to look at and possibly apply for. We also discussed the PC getting together at some point soon to organise an event possibly one big one as we need to fundraise around £1000 per year. Some ideas for this were quiz night, race night, comedy night, bingo, beetle drive or a ceilidh night as these have been done previously and raised a really large amount.
2/ SR also discussed with us that the P7 altnacriche trip is becoming increasing expensive due to the cost of living and funding for extra staff as alvie is a small staff team and asked if we could consider ways to support with this. It was suggested that parent volunteer could help with the trip.
3/ AM has a table at the funday on the 21st of September which will be a tombola table and is still looking for some donations anything is appreciated, we will also do a lucky dip MMG has started to order some things for the lucky dip. If anyone would be available to help Ashton man the table please let her know.
4/ AM shared that we raised £148.27 at the leaver’s assembly.
5/ Some parents asked about the parking and if some more areas could be cleared to provide additional parking bays as it is getting increasing busy at pick up time, SR explained that the area doesn’t belong to highland council and that it belongs to one of the estates and it is a difficult process to have this done. SR did say in previous years that some children from P4 and above would walk to the hall and parents picked up from there and found this helped and worked well.
Thank you to everyone who came along tonight. Please remember we have the parent council what’s app group if anyone would like added please speak with Ashton.
