Welcome Back to School
Hello and welcome back to school and the Autumn term. It is great to see all the children and hear about their summer holidays. A huge welcome to our new families and children who have all settled in so well.
It is amazing to see the smart school uniforms and PE kits being worn proudly by our pupils.
Please remember to send in indoor shoes and coats for the rainy days.
Please find information below to help you for the term. We will update you each week with our WHAT’S ON email.
Kind Regards

Learning in Term 1
This term we start off with a project about OUR school. This looks at the importance of friendships, values, skills and positive learning. Plus, creating a new school Vision and Aims Statement.
LITERACY - we will be teaching Core Skills (grammar, spelling, handwriting, sentence structure) and our unit will be Narrative writing.
IDL - Our project is all about Festivals and faiths. This will focus on traditional festivals and world faiths.
NUMERACY - We will be practising basic skills and focussing on Place Value, Estimation and rounding and patterns and relationships
HWB - Tennis in PE and Social, Emotional Health.
Homework
Homework will be provided online in our GOOGLE Homework classroom from September.
There will be Early, First and Second level activities available for both Literacy and Numeracy, plus, our termly IDL whole school project. Spelling will be updated weekly with new words for each class.
Reading books will come home for P1-3 in a pack and P4-7 can choose a HOME READER book.
All pupils are aware that homework is available online and can be completed online or on paper.
We encourage children to participate in homework (especially reading, spelling and the IDL project), however, homework is optional at Alvie as we fully appreciate that each family is different and family life can be busy after school.
School Lunch Payment - P6/7
P1-5 are entitled to a free school meal.
P6-7 pay £2.40 for each meal.
Please pay for meals either in advance or each week. This can be by cash or a cheque.
Late payments will receive a letter from THC.
Communication
Each term a newsletter comes out with key information and dates. This is followed up each week through the WHAT’s ON email - a handy email to remind and inform you all about what is coming up.
Our schools website captures what is happening in school and gives useful information.
If you have any enquiry then please contact Mrs Morris through the school email.
If you have a concern and wish to speak to a teacher then you can either catch us at the end of the day or leave a message and we can give you a call or arrange a meeting to come in.
Visiting the school
Please come to reception at the front of the school as this is the main entrance (please refrain from entering the classrooms). This is so we can account for who is in and out of school and also pass on any messages to the staff. Many thanks for your cooperation.
PE - A message from Mrs Douglas.
PE will continue to be on Thursday for all 3 classes so children can come into school in their PE kits.
PE Kit consists of:

a change of sweatshirt so if it's wet they can put their dry school sweatshirt back on in the class.
