WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

Monday School trip- please come to school as normal. All pupils should be wearing their Alvie primary school jumper.

You will need:

packed lunch, jacket, sensible footwear, change of clothes in case it is wet, sun cream & sun hat.

Spending money should be in an envelope with child's name on it

(£5 Maximum)

Please collect your child from Kincraig community hall 4pm

If there are any problems with travel we will contact you.

Tuesday Summer Celebration/P7 leavers assembly - 2pm at the Village Hall

We will be rehearsing at the hall from 12.00 so please provide a packed lunch or grab n go bag option.

P7 paint Leaver Tree hand prints

A huge thankyou to Claire Macdonald for coming in and helping us with the infamous P7 Handprint. Another year and another P7 tree is complete in the history of Alvie Primary.

P7 Bake Sale

Another amazing year of cooking and baking from our P7s. This completed this years eneterprise which has raised money for the hoodies and Summer fun evening at Loch Insh.

An incredible team effort - so proud of your participation, communication and organisation.

On top of reaching their target, they also made extra money for the school. Fantastic

SPORTS DAY 2023

It was a scorcher so a uge well done to everyone for takin part and being such a great sport. Each team and individual tried their hardest in the races and obstacle course. Thank you to Mrs Douglas for her amazing effort.

MFR SCHOOL OF THE WEEK term 4

This week we got to let HIGHLAND know how much fun we have at school. Leah, Anabelle, Donald, Jack and Mackenzie did a splendid job in promoting the school and answering lots of questions from the MFR team. Well done

P7 Milkshake & Mocktails

P7 have been busy organising their enterprise for 2023. Mocktails, Milkshakes and cookies. This will return this Friday (19th May) and then the big cake sale will take place on 9th June at school with an open afternoon to see all of the Homework projects. Please come along and support P7.

IDL Science Experience - term 4

Thank you so much to the Generation Science Roadshow for a fantastic fun and informative morning learning all about the Human Body!

Mindfulness week - term 4

This week we have started the term in the beautiful sunshine. We have been learning about being mindful and present in the moment. This is to help us improve out focus and concentration.

The school have practiced Yoga, mindful art, meditation and gratitude.

It has been a calm and positive week and a fantastic foundation for the term ahead.

Coronation Garden day - term 4

Friday 5th May saw the whole school gardening and planting flowers to mark the King's Coronation and also to make our Sensory garden colourful and enjoyable to sit in.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated flowers and plants. We are always so grateful for your help.

The garden looks lovely and is a really nice environment for all our children to enjoy.

Alvie's Amazing 20th Century MUSEUM

Thank you to everyone for coming a long today. It was a spectacular display of all the hard work created by the children. We are really proud of all their efforts. The Museum was a triumph and we had lots of positive feedback about the quality and quantity of work - well done!!

McRobert Cup

Well done to all of the our children who took part in the McRobert cup and represented the school. It was a very wet and muddy day but everyone had lots of fun and enjoyed running their muddy socks off for Team Alvie

Comic relief

We reaised £53 for Comic relief. There were some great hair dos and lots of bright coloured clothing.

TERM 3 - WORLD BOOK DAY 2023

This year we choose to dress up as Famous 20th Century Book Characters. It was great to see Mrs Fox, Purdy, Cat in the Hat, Mrs Trunchball, Anne of Green Gables and so many more.

Well done for the fantastic effort.

Term 3 - 20th Century VIPs visit Alvie

Mr Connelly, Grace, Brian and Ali came in to talk to the children about growin up in the 20th Century. There were some excellent questions and we all learnt so much from our Very Important 20th Century Guests. Thanks for sharing your memories with us.

Term 3 - SHINTY WINNERS

An enormous well done to our Shinty players who represented Alvie at The Fort William Indoor Shinty Tournament. Our P6-7 team played well and won several games. Our P1-5 team performed exceptionally well and won the Tournament. We are so proud of you all.

Term 3 - Rotary Quiz team

Well done to Iona, Mia, Jack, Darren & Jared for their hard effort and incredible knowledge which they displayed at the Rotary Quiz in Aviemore. Alfie the Teddy helped support the team.

The Highland Council have asked for all schools to be closed due to Industrial Action on 28th Feb & 1st March.

Rights Respecting School Ambassadors

Milkshake and Mocktail campaign

Our RRS amassadors have been busy serving the school Moilkshakes and MOcktails inorder to raise money for a new friendship area in the school grounds. They enterprise has been a huge success and has raised £80 for the project.

By popular demand, The Milkshake and Mocktail stall will make an appearance in Term 4.

A trip to the Ballet

P3-7 have attended The Snow Queen performed by The Scottish Ballet at Eden Court. Everyone enjoyed the show. The next day, The Scottish Ballet visited the school and delivered an incredible Ballet workshop. It was a fantastic experience and really completed our Expressive Arts Programme.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support P6's snack shack and to listen to some festive music and watch the turning on the Festive lights.

Heather from Cairngorm School of Dance has visited us to show the pupils how Dancing is fun, active and an amazing way to help us with our physical and mental health. This is third partner we have had to bring our IDL 'The Performers' alive.

Remembrance Sunday

Lest We Forget.

Thank you to all the pupils for painting the beautiful poppy stones placed around the memorial in the village. There was a fantastic attendance at the service there on Sunday. Well done to all the pupils who attended with their families.

The Circus came to Alvie

This week we launched two parts of our project 'The Performers'. We looked at circus performance skills with Ellie Dubois - everyone had an amazing time. We also had Ailsa Villegas in to teach us some singing tricks to enhance our performance.

Alltnacriche P7 2022

We had a marvellous time at our annual ASG residential at Alltnacriche. We were incredibly proud of the P7 team - they showed respect, kindness and friendship all week. They all enjoyed the activities and meeting new friends along the way.

A huge success and huge thank you to Alltnacriche for providing us with the opportunity.

This week we have seen our fantastic P7 pupils continue their role as great leaders.

Each group has taken on the task of leading a session with the whole school to showcase their role and encourage pupils to use a variety of achievement skills. We have seen a range of challenges and events including STEM, LEGO, Scavenger hunts, games, gardening and charity choosing

SNACK SHACK

The P6 Enterprise has kicked off and has been a huge success.

The aim is to promote healthy snacks at break and reduce sugar in our food.

Plus, all the money raised will go towards next years residential trip.

Snack Shack is on Every Thursday at Break time

All items are £1 or 50p.

CONGRATULATIONS to the SHINTY TEAM

Well done to all of our players who took part and represented Alvie & Kincraig Shinty team in Kingussie.

We Totally smashed it!!! We won all three cups.

OUTDOOR LEARNING

Term 1 is all about Outdoor Learning at Alvie.

P1-4 have been visiting the woods to discover and explore the local environment which is all connected to our IDL - Forest and woods

P5 have been to Wolftrax and had loads of exciting fun on the tracks - this will continue for the term.

P6 have been to Loch Insh for Kayaking and will get to do more activities over the weeks.

P7 will be going to Alltnacriche in Term 2 for their P7 ASG residential.

Ann Vastano visits school

Ann came to see us to share the wonderful story called 'Giant Mountain'. It is an incredible tale of the mountains and Ben Macdui.

We rate it as 10/10 and recommend it to everyone. You can buy a copy in The Old Post Office.

Camanchd Cup comes to Alvie

Well done to Kingussie Shinty team who won the Camanachd cup against Lovet.

We were lucky to see four players at school - Roddy, Rory, Zander and Robert.

Squirrels have been busy in the garden digging for potatoes.

The Garden Gang have been helping P1&2 to harvest the crops in the Autumn.

Badenoch festival - Newtonmore

A group of pupils had a great night singing two sinds as part of a Badenoch school singing group. It was a wonderful night full of music, singing, stories and poems.

Well done to Mia, Jack, Jared, Torrin, Coral, Iona and Anabelle.

Term 1 - OCTOBER Feis Week 2022

We were very lucky to have Emma, Callum and Charlie popped in to play the Guitar, Tin whistle, Fiddle and Clarsach. We all thouroughly enjoyed the sound. The Feis Spe is on Monday 10th - Friday 14th October.

Term 1 - Sponsor Day at Alvie.

P7 did a magnificent job at organising and running this year's Sponsor day 'A forest Active Adventure'.

The children adored jumping, skipping, doing press ups and planks, skipping and games.

Well done to Gracie, Iona, Mia, Jess, Jared, Torrin, Jack, Torrin, Murray, Callum, Darren and Ollie.

Thank you to everyone who came to visit the school and look around. It was wonderful to have you all back in. The children adored showing the parents their Key assessment tasks and Diorama's all inspired by out Forest and Woodland project.
