Term 1 2022/2023
Welcome back everyone! We have had a great first week back focusing on our school values, aspiration areas and achievement skills!
We have been busy creating some lovely artwork to go on our class door! Check out fantastic our self-portraits!
Our literacy workshop has begun and we are getting stuck into some good books!
During our digital leaders IDL we have been looking at different types of old technology and how it differs from the technology we have today. We created black and white line drawings of telephones, computers and lots more!
The P5s had a great time at their first biking session!
The P4s had a great morning of outdoor learning with the squirrels!
We walked through the woods and took it in turns to lead the way. Look at the exciting spot we found to have our snack!
Along the way spoke about dynamic risk assessment and how we can be safe in the woods! We also found an old table and a mysterious object hanging from a tree!
We played camouflage and tried our best to find the most hidden spot! Can you spot anyone hiding in our pictures?
Our numeracy topic is data handling, so we spent some time sorting items we had found in the woods into various categories. Some of the items we found went in two or more categories. We also spotted a slow worm on our walk back home!
This week the P4s had a great time in the woods with the Squirrels!
They put their dynamic risk assessing into practise by abseiling down a 'dangerous' descent and travelling through a tricky tunnel!
The group learned to safely travel down steep terrain using a game called Marco Polo which was great fun!
Through our Digital Leaders IDL we looked at how we can be safe online. We tested our knowledge using these online quizzes. They were great fun!
The P5s have been loving going to the Wolftrax on Tuesdays!

The P5s did so well and made it to the top! Now for the fast bit, back down the hill!
The Hedgehogs and Squirrels had a visit from author Andrew Pullan who read them his new book Mr McGimpsey's Kites. They listened to the book and had to work out the answer to a secret riddle hidden within the pages.
After hearing the story, the Hedgehogs and Squirrels had to draw what they thought Mr McGimpsey looked like using the information they had heard.
Term 2
We had fun making paper aeroplanes, searching for riddles in the scavenger hunt, weeding the garden and voting for which charity we would like to raise money for!
During our Performers topic we have had some fantastic workshops from some real life performers!
Look at our amazing acrobatic skills! It was very tricky to balance!
We enjoyed learning some new dance moves from Heather!
We practised identifying and drawing 2D shapes outside! We went on a hunt around the school grounds to see which 2D shapes we could spot!
We used our knowledge of 3D shapes and their properties to play a pairs game! We had to count the faces, edges and vertices. It was tricky with shapes like octagonal prisms and tetrahedrons!
WE have been to lucky enough to visit The Snow Queen at Eden court. An amazing experience. We also have had a workshop with The Scottish Ballet and have written amazing recounts based on our incredible day.
We have been linking our Art with the 20th Century. We have looked at Picasso, Rothko, Warhol, Kandinsky Matisse.
We have loved creating pictures influenced by Cubism, Expressionism, Abstract, Pop and Colourist. We have q great gallery in class and each week we award an Artist who has worked really hard to produce a masterpiece.
Tiddly wink Championships take place in class
As a whole class, we take pride in our classroom to make a positive Learning Space.
We win POM POMS for all trying hard and, if we get 100 then we get a special treat.

We have started the term by learning to be Mindful
This helps us appreciate what we have 'now' and to live in the moment.
I also helps us develop a sense of calmness, relaxation and to fill content in our life.
We have looked at mindful words, yoga, mediatation, affirmations and appreciating nature.
WE have kiskstarted our IDL project this week by leanring about the Skeletal system of the humman body. We know the names of the major bones and have researched lots of facts about The skeleton.
Did you know that we have 200 bones our body??
This week we have spent time planning out the wildlife area and making new areas for the local animals to visit. We have anew toad abode and frog spot, plus, bird feeders, a badger area and a tipi.
Hedgehogs worked hard together as a class.
We have speant time creating adventure stories this week. We have used a varietyof Language Features and have been super proud of our results. To celebrate, we spent time in the sun reading our stories to each other.
