The Squirrel Class welcomed our friends from the nursery for their first transition visit to school. Next year's Primary 4s are very pleased to take on the leadership role of being their Buddies. The Squirrel class with the nursery pupils are working together on adding some new features and characters to our Enchanted Wood area in school.

The Squirrel Class have been practising lots of skills through music and singing. The lovely weather has given a chance for singing outside with the big parachute to play some of the music games we learned inside over the last few weeks!

The pupils in the Squirrel Class have found the best way to learn about Fractions this term...
they have turned the role play area in the classroom into a pizza shop!
This has led to lots of links to our body project and the food element of HWB, a whole range of literacy exploration through creating menus and signs, inspired outdoor learning with our mud kitchen and a great amount of discussion, questioning and fantastic role play and team work as well as all the numeracy learning going on in class!
This term has had lots of opportunities for whole school events. The pupils have been busy taking part in planting in the school garden for The King's Coronation, learning about the Human Body at the Science Fair and Wear Yellow Day for The Highland Hospice. The Squirrel Class had fun making yellow handprints too, their yellow hand paintings were put together to make a beautiful sunflower in the Hospice Shop in Aviemore.

Term 4 always bring sunlight and fresh air into the classroom and outdoors!
The Squirrel class are enjoying getting outside for mindfulness, outdoor learning, and PE.
The class are getting so confident at walking a mile around our grounds with their friends from the Stag and Hedgehog classes.
The P7 pupils helped the Squirrel class on a Senses Scavenger Hunt and P1-3 enjoyed teaching them their favourite outdoor game at the moment called 'The Eagle's Nest.'

Primary 1 had a fantastic visit from Tricia to learn all about how to look after our teeth well. They loved meeting Bertie and helping to brush his teeth!

Primary 1-3 all made an enormous effort to transform into brilliant book characters for World Book Day! Thank you for sharing your favourite, and wonderful books, stories and tales. Mrs Ferguson kept some safe to continue reading to the class next week.

The Squirrel Class enjoyed a day of STEM activities! The House Captains organised a great morning of Outdoor activities. In the afternoon the Squirrels joined the Hedgehogs to learn all about the Lunar Rover created in the 1970s to explore the moon. The children worked in teams to design create their own moon buggies! Watch out NASA we have some amazing engineers in the making here!

The pupils in the Squirrel Class are developing their confidence to become more independent learners whilst also choosing successful spaces to work/play, and great partners or groups to work with that are a 'good fit' to strengthen and support each others' skills.
Daily Literacy activities in the Squirrel Class help to make the connection between reading, writing, phonics, and spelling and the importance of reading and saying words and sounds out loud to help build word sense and confidence in all these areas.

The Squirrel Class have been extending their learning about time into the Active and Adventure aspect of our Curriculum. They have enjoyed lots of time related games, circuits and timing exercises, followed by relaxation to music.

The Squirrel Class joined the Stags and Hedgehogs to learn about digital safety. The pupils discussed how our values of being Diligent Friendly Helpful Inclusive Kind & Respectful also apply in the digital world.

The Squirrel Class are working hard to learn all about time. Every day we 'build the day' looking at the date, the time, the weather and discuss the season and events happening at this time of year. They love to count down the days to upcoming birthdays!

The Squirrel Class enjoyed learning about The Rights of The Child and had some fantastic conversations showing great understanding of the difference between needs and wants as well as ways to stay safe, healthy and happy.

The elves in the Squirrel Class have been busy starting preparations for that special time of year! They are enjoying choosing a daily advent story and made some super stylish cards for the local community.
The Squirrel class have been continuing to work on their performance skills through singing, dancing and acting, having lots of fun together in class. The pupils have been learning how to use playscripts to use their voices, facial expressions and movements to perform a story to an audience. They have enjoyed building more sets and setting scenes for different characters and stories read in class.

The Squirrel Class have enjoyed exploring different forms of performance for our new project! The pupils are also putting their skills into practice through their reading, writing, PE, and STEM; creating and building set designs, becoming experts at explorng characters and settings, using different voices, volume, mood and tones!

The Squirrel Class along with Primary 4 have had great adventures in the local woods! Such amazing teamwork came together to build some super dens using all the skills they've been practising over the term.

Primary 1,2,3 and 4 have been out exploring in the woods for their Outdoor Learning Sessions on a Tuesday, come rain or shine! What wonderful adventures they have had so far :-)

The Squirrel Class love learning and exploring through Numeracy and have been using lots of different materials and carrying out activities to build on their 'number sense'.

The Squirrel Class are doing brilliantly getting themselves organised for their PE sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays.

We have been able to make use of our indoor and outdoor spaces at school for PE depending on the weather.
