To add a new formula to your available templates, click the New Formula button in the top right corner.
This will display a Master List or Master Formulas. To add a sales person commission click the Add button next to "Salesperson Commission."
The first thing that you'll see on this Formula Details window will be the three descriptive fields.
Formula Code: This field can be edited as you wish. It is the unique identifier for each formula. No two formulas can have the same Formula Code.
Description: This field is used to state how this Sales Person Commission looks when you select it from your drop down menus throughout the system.
Settlement Description: This field is what will be stated on the settlement.
In this example we're changing the Formula code to 5% Sale Com and we're changing the Description to 5% Sales Commission.
We can leave the Settlement Description alone as it still pertains to what we're dealing with.
Underneath the descriptive section you will see the line items known as "Parts." These Parts are the functional aspects of the formula. In our example we're going to change the commission from 3% to 5%. To edit this Part click the Pencil Icon to the left of the Description.
The first field to change will be the Description field. For our example we've changed this from "3% of Commission" to "5% of Commission."
The next field to edit will be the Caluclation field. To edit this field click the Pencil Icon next to it.
From the window that appears use the red X button to remove the 3% from the end of the formula.
To add a new percentage click the Values button. This will display several editable fields. Enter your new percentage into the Percentage field and click the blue Plus button to add it onto the end of your formula.
When finished click the Done button.
Clicking the Done button will take you back to the Edit Part window where you can confirm that all the fields have been edited correctly.
To save these settings click the Save button.
Clicking the Save button will direct you back to the Formula Details window. Here you can confirm and save this formula or add more parts to it. To save this formula click the Save button underneath the Line Item.
You can test that your formula is functioning correctly by clicking the Test Formula button.
This will display the Test Calculation window.
On this window change the clerking status to Sold.
Enter a test dollar amount into the Total Commission field.
Click the Test button.
The software will calculate the commission based on the formula and yield results.
In our example entering $100.00 with a 5% commission will yield an extra $5.00 applied to our profit (debit) and will show that same $5.00 deducted from our consignor (credit.)
You can now choose this tax as an option in any area that a Sales Person Commission is a factor. Such as in the Lots Details area.
