Many of these construction sites are on the edge or in some cases going right into canyon area and high brush. 

Accidents in Construction sites can and do happen causing fires.  It is better to be prepared than not.

WHAT TO GRAB FIRST - if you have time.  If fire is on your doorstep get out immediately

Medication

Pets

Carriers
Food

Bowls

Litter pan

Leashes, harnesses, collars

Pet medication

Cellphones and chargers and cords

Laptops and/or computers

Medications for all members of family including pets

Glasses, readers, contact lenses

Wallet

Cash

All credit cards

Insurance cards

Social security cards

IMPORTANT FILE-this should be set up ahead of time.  When a fire starts it may be too late

Birth Certificates

Homeowners or Renters insurance policies, numbers and contact information

Health Insurance policies, numbers and contact information

Car Insurance policies, numbers and contact information

Photos

Family heirlooms

Expensive or memorable pieces of jewelry

The above is certainly not a complete list but it is a place to start in an Emergency but if you have time make your own list and post in a prominent place so you do not have to look for it.
