Meetings Term 4

Tuesday 15th October: Maylis & Claudia

Plus:

  • We got to learn things that would be really hard but we got it.
  • Delighted to understand what seemed complicated at first.
  • Good task on the board that was explained in a way we understood.
  • Great to be using a calculator and doing fractions with it.

Minus:

  • It took us ages to figure it out.

Interesting:

  • It is easier than we thought.

Tuesday 29th October: Maylis & Claudia

Plus:

  • Most people are taking responsibility for their learning, and preparing for the Number Internal.
  • Revision time was good, we have had enough time to prepare.
  • The practice tasks were very helpful. Lots of errors & misunderstandings were discovered and fixed.

Minus:

  • The test is tomorrow and it is hard, and we are scared!
  • Frightened of failure!

Interesting:

  • Last week we did not have a meeting because people were studying for the internal.

Thursday 7th November: 10R

  • Students could be on task more if they were placed in a seating plan.
  • We are happy to design the seating plan for you.
  • We like being with our friends, but we work better without them.
  • You are too soft, too nice to us.
  • People go to the toilet and take a very long time, do you notice?

Monday the 25th of November: 9x

Plus:

  • Freedom to choose what we were learning was good. If I had already learned something I did not have to waste time doing it, I could learn something new instead.
  • There was lots of resources to support our learning:
    • Transum
    • Education Perfect
    • Learning Workbook
    • Class mates
    • Google Classroom
    • Ms Allan's Google Site
    • Tests were good. Twice a term seemed good, more would have been stressful. The tests gave us something to work towards. The previous years tests were good guides to studying.
  • Good Variety of topics learned. Always interesting.
    • Desmos and Geogebra were useful , and helped gain a deeper understanding.
  • Student presentations.

Minus:

  • Maintaining our own Google site was not the best use of time. (This provided evidence that the freedom was properly used).

Interesting:

  • Board Games - Prime Climb
  • The parabola cards were confusing, maybe a bit hard.
  • The student help desk set up, to study at the start of the year worked well.
  • Sonobe units, Geometrical art was fun.
  • Only one group presented a topic free presentation.
