Meetings Term 3

Lunchtime 23rd July: 10r Claudia & Maylis

Plus:

  • Reading scales and physical measurement is easy and fun (we have not done this yet).

Minus:

  • The algebra test was hard and the measurement pre-test was hard.

Interesting:

  • I find measurement hard.
  • Tricky having a test on the second day back at school as we have forgotten everything from last year.
  • We are learning Algebra, but the expectation keeps increasing faster than we would like.

Lunchtime 30th July: 10r Claudia & Maylis

Plus:

  • Working in groups on a task.

Minus:

  • No Prime Climb.
  • Pre-test for measurement: We didn't know much at all.

Interesting:

  • People were on task for the group measurement task.

Lunchtime 6th August 2019: 10r Claudia & Maylis

Plus:

  • Group work.

Minus:

  • No prime climb and measurement is hard.

Interesting:

  • Primary School Measurement: We learned to read scales, and counted the yellow blocks. There were some word problems but I didn't do them because they were too hard. There were time word problems I could do, but actual measurement ones I could not do. In year 5 and 6 I did not do any measurement.
  • The same area for different shapes was confusing, but now I get it.

Lunchtime 13th August 2019: 10r Claudia & Maylis

Plus:

  • Group of two is easier to work than a larger group, but also a bit boring.

Minus:

  • We have been doing measurement and we do not like measurement.

Interesting:

  • There was a choice of education perfect, learning workbook, PPMCC project, maths week, text book or the competition with prizes to measure and calculate volume, area and perimeter and these students think ALL the options were the same.
  • In a way, all the choices involve mathematics, and most involved measurement.

Lunchtime 20th August 2019: 10r Claudia & Celeste

Plus:

  • Study time was great.

Minus:

  • Measurement is boring, complicated and confusing.

Interesting:

  • Everyone was working hard the day before the test. Motivated to do well.

Lunchtime 17th September 2019: 10r Claudia & Celeste

Plus:

  • Good to prepare for the algebra assessment.
  • We get to work at our own level.
  • Measurement Assessment Results were better than expected.

Minus:

  • Level 5 & 6 are really hard.

Interesting:

  • Education Perfect Assessment results help us know what to study next.

Lunchtime 24th September 2019: 10r Claudia & Celeste

Plus:

  • Study time is good.
  • We are all on task making good use of the time.
  • Past exams are good.

Minus:

  • Graphs are hard- especially parabolas and gradients.

Interesting:

  • People had different opinions about doing the test on Wednesday last period or Thursday first period.
