Option One: Uni-variate (One Variable)
- Use the PPDAC cycle to collect data, draw one box plot and make observations
- For Example:
- Problem: How long did the typical student in this class spend studying for the algebra test?
- Plan: We will ask all the student s in this class who are at school today:
- How many hours they studied at home for the Algebra test at the end of last term.
- Data: We will write down the number of study hours for each student.
- Analysis: We will create one box plot, the scale will be in hours.
- Conclusion: We will give a range of time spent studying that we consider are typical for this class.
Option Two: Multi-variate (Comparing two groups)
- Use the PPDAC cycle to collect data, draw two box plots to compare two groups.
- For example:
- Problem: Did girls in this class tend to spend more time studying for the algebra test than the boys in this class?
- Plan: We will ask all the student s in this class who are at school today:
- How many hours they studied at home for the Algebra test at the end of last term.
- Data: We will write down the number of study hours and the gender of each student.
- Analysis: We will create two box plots, one for the boys and one for the girls, the scale will be in hours.
- Conclusion: We will observe the two boxes and decide which group, boys or girls, tended to spend the most time studying.

- One Week Journal we will explained in order to prepare to Take the census on Thursday the 9th of May.
- CensusAtSchool registration codes: 930291 (9nn) 930292 (9x) 930293 (10mm) 930294 (10r) (Our Data).
- Other classes might use the codes: 930295, 930296, 930297, 930298, 930299.
- Suggestion: Google Form Number to revise last terms work.
The shape of distributions will be explored. Shape CARDS will be used to encourage discussion and debate.

Using the New Cards: Learning how to play productively and creatively.
- When you are engaged in Productive Play you are able to articulate what you are learning.
- When you are engaged in Creative Play you have designed your own learning game together.
- When you sort the cards you are discovering patterns.
- When you explain why two or more cards form a group, you are using correct mathematical language and making connections.
- New vocab: lower quartile, upper quartile, median, mean, mode, average, minimum, maximum, inter-quartile range, range, middle 50%, shift, overlap

Week Four: Group PPDAC Project
- These groups will be selected by the teacher with student input.
- All classes voted for student selected groups.
- Part of the presentation will be on how evenly the work was shared.
- The task is on google classroom.
- Mixed message: I previously suggested in class that the students who were not working well would be put in a group together to ensure their grade reflects their effort. To clarify, the group selection was made on a class by class basis, by student vote.
- See Google Classroom for additional links and resources.

Week Five: Group Project Presentations
Week Five: Group Project Presentations
- Monday - peer marking in order in improve on grades, using the tick sheet. Groups should be very clear about the grade they expect to be awarded.
- Tuesday & Thursday - Presentations. Students will be marked 'on the spot' and will be encouraged to argue about their grades. Given the teacher strike we might still be marking a few projects on the following Monday, but we will try to avoid running over time.
Wednesday 29th May: Teacher Strike
Wednesday 29th May: Teacher Strike
Strike: Votes taken across the two big teachers’ unions, which represent almost 50,000 members, will bring a mass classroom closure across the country on May 29.
I expect my students to spend an hour doing mathematics. Below are some links and videos that I think you might find interesting. Write a reflection on your Google Site about something you found out on the 'teacher strike' day. Remember, it is the teachers on strike, not the students.

Math Games in the Classroom.
Here is the WHY we play PrimeClimb and WHY Ms Allan made the cards.
1. Choice needs to be a part of the game. (Choice=Strategy).
2. Math should be the engine of the game. (Math=FUN).
3. Simple to use and easy to play.
