Level 3 & 4 Algebra Skills

Manipulation (Term 1 Week 6 to 10)

Solving (Term 2 Week 6 to 10)

  • Solve Equations
    • Level 1 - Simple equations where the solution can be found by performing one operation on both sides of the equation. Example: 8n=64
    • Level 2 - Simple equations where the solution can be found in two steps. Example: 9e+6=78
    • Level 3 - Equations where a multiple of the unknown and a constant are on both sides. Example: 4y−7=3y−4
  • Inequalities
    • Level 5 - Matching statements to number line diagrams.
    • Level 6 - Solving linear inequalities.
    • Level 7 - Solving linear two part inequalities.

Inspiration: Learn to drive your own learning.

In the past the workforce needed people to do as they were told.

If a job can be described as a set of rules or steps (If this....then that...), then the job will be done by a robot in the future.

Jobs of the future require people to make choices and commit to actions they select.

When you are studying you need to:

  • Choose from the wonderful resources available to you to use.
  • Make a plan.
    • eg: 6 lessons. 2 on manipulation; 2 on solving and 2 on graphs.
  • Justify your choice in the form of a reflection on your Google Site.
    • eg: I decided to complete chapters 6,7 & 8 in my learning workbook. I feel that when I work with paper I am less distracted. If I work on Education Perfect, Transum, or Google Classroom, I find I end up on social media instead.
    • eg: I am focusing on the 2018 EOY Assessment and learning everything I need to learn in order to get 100% on Level 3 and 4 questions. I will then print the test and do the test in exam condition for one hour in order to see if I remember what I learned and to check my speed.
