Tuesday 26th March to Thursday the 28th March

Week 10 - Patterns & Word Problems

Monday 1st April to Thursday the 4th of April

Tuesday:

Wednesday:

  • Student help desk day:
    • Reflect on the gaps in your knowledge for the upcoming Algebra Test.
    • Strive by setting a goal for this lesson.
    • Connect by asking others for help or giving help to others.
    • Respect by helping rather than harming, empathizing rather than judging.
    • Create by looking at things another way, problem solving the gaps in your knowledge.

Thursday:

9x Presentation

Thank you to the group of six female students who presented information about the lives of five female mathematicians.

This was an informative presentation.

Week 11 - Study & Assessment

Monday 8th April, Tuesday & Wednesday Study Strategy.

On Wednesday the 3rd of April we had a student 'help desk' which worked really well. Three of the four classes voted to continue independent supported study this week. For students who do not know how to structure their own study the program below will be followed. Some students are using last years assessment to structure their own study.

Monday 8th April - Collect Like Terms & Expanding

Tuesday 9th April - Factorise

  • 30 minutes to do everything you can of a paper copy of the 2018 test.
  • Tuakana teina (help desk) will be available for support in the second half of the lesson.
  • Homework: Transum links on Algebra Pairs and Factorizing.
  • Factorizing (Transum).
  • Algebra Matching (Transum).

Wednesday 10th April - Simplify Fractions & Power Rules

  • Test Strategy - the test has level 3,4,5 & 6 and is too long for you to complete.
    • Year 9 - most of you should ignore level 5 and 6 questions.
    • Year 10 - most of you should ignore level 3 and level 6 questions.
    • Year 9 students are doing well to get 4A.
    • Year 10 students are doing well to get 5A.
    • Each level is B (basic), P (proficient) or A (advanced).
    • The marking works like the number common test.
  • Algebraic Fractions (Transum).
  • Indices (Transum).
  • Powers True or False
  • Tuakana teina (help desk) will be available for support.

Thursday 11th April - Common Assessment Algebraic Manipulation

  • Tests will be given back on the first day of term 2.
  • Write a reflection on your Google Site about how you think you did.

Have an awesome holiday. Below are videos which might help you study.

Level 6 Plus - for those who are aiming for 6A

This play list is from my previous years of teaching Year 12 Mathematics.

Some of the Achieved Questions in Level 2 NCEA Algebra are actually at Level 6 of the NZC.

The test does NOT have logs in it, but it does have fractional and negative indices.
